Tereus was a twin-jet fighter/interceptor produced by the Republic of Syara. It was the first jet aircraft produced by Syara, and the first Syaran aircraft capable of reaching supersonic speeds when in a dive, although for most situations it was restricted to subsonic flight. Tereus was first flown in 1950 and was introduced to the Syaran Army Air Corps in 1952, which acquired 250 airframes over the decade. The aircraft was a prominent symbol of Syara in the 1950s, and a point of pride for a nation still recovering during the Broken Years. While it was popular among pilots and the Syaran public, by the end of the decade advancements in fighter jet technology had rendered the Tereus obsolete. The aircraft remained in service for twenty years primarily as a trainer, and was retired in 1975.
