Thylacinia, officially the Marsupial Confederation of Thylacinia, is a sovereign country comprising the mainland of the Australian continent, the island of Thylus, and numerous smaller islands. It is the largest country in Oceania and the world's sixth-largest country by total area. The population of approximately 25 million is heavily urbanised and concentrated on the eastern seaboard of the country. Thylacinia's capital is Kamberra, and its largest city is Sydney. The country's other major metropolitan areas are Meulbron, Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide. About 90.4% of Thylacinia's population is made up of sapient anthropoids who superficially resemble members of the infraclass Marsupialia; the remainder of the population consist of humans of Anglo-Celtic or Dutch ethnic backgrounds.

Indigenous Marsupialoids inhabited the continent for approximately 65 millennia prior to European contact with the arrival of Dutch explorers in the 17th century. The country's official language and lingua franca, the Thylacine Creole, developed from contact between the natives and the Dutch in the early colonies and later independent Marsupial states that arose — particularly those ruled by the Thylacines. English is also rather commonly spoken along the central and northern stretches of the eastern seaboard, reflecting a legacy of British colonialism, and is widely encountered in public and commercial life despite being only the fourth most natively spoken language. Decades of frequent warfare between the native Marsupial states and the British Empire culminated in British defeat in 1884, and the victorious Marsupial states formed a confederation to administer the captured territories; on 1 January 1901, the Constitution went into effect, effectively solidifying the Marsupial Confederation into a Federal State. Thylacinia has since maintained a stable political system that functions as a federal parliamentary republic, comprising six states and ten territories. Despite this, political franchise remains limited, and a rigid political class exists dominated by the Thylacines.

Being the oldest, flattest, and driest inhabited continent, with the least fertile soils, Thylacinia has a landmass of 7,617,940 square kilometres (2,941,300 sq mi). A megadiverse country, its size gives it a wide variety of landscapes, with deserts at its centre, tropical rainforests in the northeast and mountain ranges in the southeast. Its population density, about 3.3 inhabitants per square kilometre, is among the lowest in the world. Thylacinia generates income from various sources, including mining-related exports, telecommunications, banking, and manufacturing.

Thylacinia is a multiethnic, multispecies society encompassing a wide variety of cultures and languages. The economy is highly developed, ranking 14th in size worldwide, and with the tenth highest per capita income. It is a regional power, and has the world's 13th highest military expenditure. Having the third-highest human development index and the eighth-highest ranked democracy globally, the country ranks highly in quality of life, health, education, economic freedom, and civil liberties, with all its major cities faring well in global comparative livability surveys.
