Bonne Islands are an Island Archipelago in South America. The majority of Bonne Islands consist of Alloi Island which holds just over 82% of Bonne Islands population. There are 8 islands which make up the Bonne Island Archipelago. Alloi Island is an ex French Colony which was given up in 1972 after the Bonne-Alloi Civil War between the French and the opposing Bonne Freedom Force. Alloi Island became independent from French rule on the 19th January 1972 and has maintained its independence ever since under the Bonne Islands Archipelago. Due to its French history, Bonne Islands has a healthy population of French speakers. However, according to a 2018 census, the primary language of Bonne Islands was slowly transitioning back to its Spanish and Bonnian roots.

Etymology

The word 'Bonne' originates from the ancient dialect of Bonnian-Spanish meaning 'greatest'. Despite the French meaning of Bonne, "a nursemaid or housemaid, typically one who is French", the Bonne in Bonne Islands is not related.

The Island archipelago is known in France as the 'Land of Housemaids' due to the meaning of Bonne in the French language. This nickname was only given after the French were driven out in 1972 - it was previously nicknamed American Islands by the French.

According to some (widely debated) scripture originating from 973AD, when Bonne Islands was Argentinian Territory, Bonne Islands was referred to Donot Islands by the Argentinians though there is minimal evidence to support this claim and it is widely denied by Argentinian historians.
