Camria (Camrian: Kemrad), officially the Kingdom of Camria (Camrian: Rheon di Kemrad), is a sovereign state in western Asura, bordering Miricia to the east, Lenia to the south, the Lhedwin Channel to the north and the Opal Ocean to the west. The kingdom comprises mainland Camria, which contains the metropolitan capital city of Elysed, in addition to the island of Afalon to the west and a number of overseas territories. According to the 2016 census, the country has a population of 63.5 million.

Prior to the rise of the Pergalean Empire, Camria was inhabited primarily by a number of Thiaric peoples, most notably the Cymrals. The region was subjugated by the Pergaleans during the Cymralic Wars from 26-20 BCE, giving rise to the province of Cymral, and the eventual adoption of Vulgar Pergalean by the majority of the local population, giving rise to the modern Camrian language. The invasion of Alucia and the ensuing fall of the Pergaleans led to the rise of petty kingdoms across the province, most notably that of Defed. In the 10th century CE, Peter the Saint of Elysed subdued many of the pagan lords of Camria in the Camrian Consolidation, aiding in the emergence of the nascent Alydian Empire. Elysed overtook Defed to became the most powerful Camrian polity within the Empire, though Mirician polities tended to dominate the Empire in reality, contributing to a strong rivalry.

By the thirteenth century, Elysed remained a dominant power in Alydian Camria, and was one of the first polities to take advantage of colonialism, establishing a number of colonies across the new world during the 15th century. This nascent colonial empire led to an economic revolution in the duchy, allowing it to stand toe-to-toe with rivals in Miricia. By the mid 16th century, the rivalry between Camria and Miricia resulted in the appointment of an Anti-Pontiff in Elysed, resulting in the Pontifical War. The war resulted in a negotiated peace, which saw Elysedan monarch coronated as Archduke of Camria. This consolidated Camrian prestige and power in western Asura, allowing it to emerge as one of the powers behind the Imperial throne.

The dissolution of the Empire in 1812 allowed Camria to be elevated to kingdom, and the newly independent monarchs expanded Camrian power and prestige through colonial ventures, particularly in Majula. Camria subsequently became a great power, and during the late colonial era the Camrian Empire boasted an empire on which the sun never set. By the mid to late 19th century, Camria and Miricia had experienced a detente, resulting in the Entente benefique. The close alliance between the two countries would help to contribute to the Great War, in which Camria was a major Entente power. Despite emerging victorious, the war had devastated the countryside and bankrupted the government. Despite fiscal difficulties, Camria attempted to retain the vast empire it had acrued, though most colonies would achieve self-governance and independence. Along with Miricia, Camria became a founding member of the Asuran Council. By the 1980s, the Camrian Empire was essentially ended, though the country maintained a significant overseas presence, retaining colonies such as Haiho. As a founding member, Camria remained a major power in the AC.

In the modern day, Camria is a federal parliamentary constitutional monarchy. It is generally considered a great power, exerting significant soft power. It is a founding member of the Asuran Council and CPIS, and is a permanant member of the CN Security Council. The reigning monarch is Anna III, while the current serving Prime Minister is Luc Gwenadur. Camria is a developed country with a high-income social market economy, recording a nominal GDP per capita of $44,318 in 2019.

Climate

The climate of the Camrian mainland is generally temperate. The majority of the country is classed as temperate oceanic, experiencing cool summers and cool winters, considerable storm activity, reliable yearly precipitation levels, and generally overcast and cloudy weather. Certain portions of the western coast, and the island of Afalon, are classed as temperate rainforest. The south of the country is a dry summer climate, with fair drier summers than the north. There is a humid continental climate between these, with summers warmer than the north but cooler than the south.

In the Camrian overseas territories, the climate is more varied. The climate of Haiho is decidedly humid subtropical, with hot and humid summers, and milder winters.
