Captain Vitosium: Origins is a 2008 superhero film based on the XD Comics character, Captain Vitosium, produced by Synamatic Studios. The film, notably, left on a cliffhanger, leading to 2009's Captain Vitosium: Origins II.

Plot

It is 1958 and 9 year old Jack Mannera arrives home from school in Altacelio, Maydover Island, where his mother, Melanie Mannera, is cooking supper for him and his siblings, David, Eddie and Teresa. Their father, Major Gabriel "Gabe" Mannera, is off at war against the fictional country, Agliyya. As Melanie finishes supper, she receives a letter saying that Gabe was killed in friendly fire. The family mourns their loss. It is now 1968. 19 year old Jack, having idolized his father, plans to join the military and be just like him. As he attends boot camp, he meets Anthony "Tony" Dawson, who he quickly gets along with, as well as potential love interest and nurse, Tracy Resendes. Later, he also meets alpha jock, Ron Aguas, and paranoid know-it-all, Larry Bento. On their third week at boot camp, he recognizes his friend from high school, Luke Balentos. The two catch up, only to get in trouble by their drill sergeant, William Castro.

It is now the 10th and final week at boot camp. An alarm goes off and it is announced that Vitosium and, fictional country, Bostaeze, have declared war on each-other. Jack, Tony and Luke notice hundreds of soldiers heading off to war. The three discuss their love of the nation and their passion for protecting it. Jack opens up about how much the death of his father had an effect on him. He hopes to make him and the rest of his family proud. Later that day, he is on the phone with his mother as she talks about how proud she is of him and discusses his high grades in school. She admits being scared of him following his father's footsteps but understands that this is what he truly wants. She also wishes him a happy birthday. After the phone call, General Clifton Castro comes up from behind him and says that he knew his father personally back before he became General. He sees a lot of potential in him, despite what his brother says. After he walks away, Jack is happy due to his words.

At the end of the week, a Graduation Ceremony occurs. Soon after, alone, Jack and Tracy talk about the war against Bostaeze. She admits how scared she is but she has wanted to do this for a long time as her mother was a nurse. She, unfortunately, was killed during an attack back in 1964 at the end of the war with Agliyya. Tracy wishes him well and walks away while Tony and Luke approach him and tease him about Tracy. Sergeant William Castro approaches the three and congratulates them before walking elsewhere. Minutes later, an attack on the boot camp happens with Sergeant Castro being the first casualty, followed by many of the families in the audience. Melanie, however, manages to hide away safely. General Castro leads the counter attack, although there were many casualties. Afterwards, the General brings the survivors to one of the buildings where he says that he has been given orders from the top that they need to head out now to Bostaeze. They can mourn later, he says. As the new soldiers board the plane, General Castro lets them all know where they will heading and what the plan is when they land. He also mentions that they will be going up against the infamous and very dangerous General Albior Siajan of the Bostaezian army. While on the way there, Jack talks to some of the other survivors such as Amaro, Caligaro, Moreira, Pinio, Sansala, Santos as well as his friends, Luke Balentos and Tony Dawson.

Hours later, Jack wakes up as General Castro announces that they will be passing by the drop zone in ten minutes. As everybody wakes up, General Castro gives everybody an encouraging speech and passes them parachutes. They all jump out of the plane and land safely. Jack manages to land near Amaro, Sansala and Santos and they all hide, discussing what to do next. As they are about to be ambushed, a strange glowing soldier uses his strength to lift the Bostaezian soldiers up and throw them thirty feet in the sky. He tells them that they will die if they continue like this and runs off. The four of them get separated as Jack runs into Moreira and Ron Aguas, who, in a fit of stress, threatens Jack. As soldiers surround them, the three of them manage to hold their own as Aguas then points a gun at Jack's head, expressing how he saw him talking to Tracy. She had rejected him (Aguas) for Jack. Moreira feels like the stress of war is causing Aguas to act irrationally. Jack, feeling like he could die from friendly fire like his dad, practically beats up Aguas and runs off.

It is the morning and Jack wakes up inside a cave he found last night, showing a few dead Bostaezian soldiers outside. A few soldiers surround the cave but Jack manages to hold his own once again. Caligaro and Pinio find him in the cave, which almost caused gunfire. They soon find themselves in a trench where they find more Vitosian soldiers, as well as Luke and Tony. A fight breaks out between both sides with the strange glowing soldier coming to save them once again. This is when Jack realizes that it wasn't super strength but, rather, telekinesis. He says he won't argue if the results are good for their side. The glowing solider introduces himself as Warrant Officer Louie Torres. Jack asks about his powers but Louie says that he doesn't know where he got them or when. It was sometime during his fifth year in the Bostaezian war. General Castro comes up to them, expressing how proud he is of his army.

It is five months later. Jack wakes up in the camp and notices strange green lightning. He sits around the table with Amaro, Caligaro, Luke, Moreira, Pinio, Sansala, Santos and Tony. Aguas comes in and makes some snide remarks towards Jack while General Castro discusses them having located General Siajan of the Bostaezian army, with them hoping to ambush them tonight. After Aguas leaves for a smoke, he comes back in saying that the weird green lightning is getting closer to them. Castro and Lieutenant Rocha tells everybody to get ready. During the battle, Aguas is the first to die while Louie Torres intervenes. Jack notices another glowing figure on their side (Corporal Hugh Pera) who turns invisible. Jack feels like he is going insane with all these superpowered soldiers but, before he could think anymore about it, he is nearly ambushed by a regular Bostaezian soldier, who Jack manages to kill. He then manages to save Amaro, Luke and Pinio as well. The powerful Bostaezian soldier, who Amaro nicknames "Green Lightning" as a codename, is promptly defeated by Torres and Pera. As everybody goes back into the tents, Torres and Pera stay outside. Jack joins them, learning Pera's name and rank in the process. Pera warns Jack that this is no ordinary war. As Pera mentions that his father did some looking into the truth, Torres shushes him, saying that they don't need to put Jack in danger and the two of them leave. Luke and Tony come out and join him. Jack says that he just found out that his dad's "friendly fire" could have something to do with the weird superpowers they've been witnessing in the war. Both Luke and Tony don't understand it themselves with Luke saying that, if his dad died from trying to figure out the truth, then he needs to stop now and just focus on surviving. Tony mentions his parents wanting him to pursue culinary, saying that he wanted to do something more with his life than continue on the family company. Luke says that, as Jack already knows, having known him since they were seven, the Balentos family are a family of lawyers. He was pressured heavily into it, which made him want to do something else.

It is now three months later. Jack monologues about how Corporal Pera and Warrant Officer Torres have stopped showing their faces around the camps. He is worried that somebody killed them. As he wanders, gun in hand, in the forest, he notices Torres and Pera in a cave and investigates. Pera notices Jack and ushers him closer. Pera introduces the corpse in front of them as Corporal Melvin Toura, another superpowered soldier. Torres says that they were just talking when Toura had a sudden heart attack, which makes no sense. Pera says that, out of the five known super soldiers in the Vitosian army, they are the last two. Neither know how they got their powers or why the other three super soldiers suffered sudden heart attacks. A voice is heard behind them as they turn and meet Lieutenant Toskait Gloales of the Bostaezian army, who reveals himself to be a super soldier as well with metal wings, leading to a very intense fight that sees them victorious, although Corporal Hugh Pera is killed. A Bostaezian soldier is seen witnessing the fight and running away, causing them to give chase, leading to a showdown at the Vitosian camp, which sees the Vitosians versus the Bostaezians. Unfortunately, Caligaro, Pinio and Sansala are killed during this. Somehow, Jack manages to find himself alone with the general of the Bostaezian army, General Albior Siajan, who introduces a mysterious glowing soldier known as Rosho "The Warden" Mustou. A showdown between Jack and The Warden happens with Jack, barely, coming out victorious. Warrant Officer Louie Torres then drags a very beaten General Siajan to him and they both try to get answers out of him. Siajan laughs and says that he was just a normal man with heavy ambitions. He refuses to say more as he dies. The aftermath of the battle of both sides saw a lot of casualties with Torres and Mannera hoping to find out where the powers came from. Jack then turns to Torres and asks him about something he said months ago. He got his powers during the fifth year of the war but the war had started recently. Torres says the fifth year of him being here, actually. The war has been going on for almost a decade. Roll credits.
