The Democratic East Europan Union is a sovereign state located in Europa. It borders the Erebonian Empire, Kingdom of Liberl, and the Calvard Republic to the north; Bahatsva and Lorica to the east; Ramuncia, Rumania, and the Militesi Empire to the south; Gallia-Bruhl, and Atlantic Federation to the west.

The Democratic East Europan Union was formed near the end of the Imperial Crisis. Following the assassination of Maximillian III, Imperial Field Marshal and leader of the Gneisenau Circle Friedrich Albricht marched to Schwartzgrad to arrest members of the nobility, disengage all Imperial forces at the border, and signed the unconditional surrender of all Imperial forces. Maximillian III's exiled brother, Louis Ferdinand I was invited back to East Europa by Albricht to be crowned as the new Emperor of the new democratic state.

The new government introduced reforms for land ownership, workers, and other public sector members such that the common wage law was abolished. The Minimum Wage Act of 2017 was introduced and this increased pay of workers in both the private and public sector. Diplomatic relations were opened for the with several other allied nations as foreign investments flew to the country for the first time since the reign of Maximillian II's rule. The Imperial Army of Europa was significantly reduced, abolishing mandatory military service, and reducing miliary spending. Expenditures were focused on reviving the economy at the different sectors. Any forms of teachings and references to Maximillian I and Maximillian III were outlawed. Surviving documents during their respective rule were kept in the Imperial Library of Schwartzgrad.

Currently, East Europa is organised into 11 regional councils and 95 territorial authorities for local government purposes. It remains in possession of the Finlandia Free State as a semi-independent autonomous province. The Democratic East Europan Union is a member of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, International Red Cross Association, and the TRIOC Treaty Union.
