Esquariscepticism

Jump to navigation Jump to search

Esquariscepticism is criticism of, or opposition to the Esquarian Community. Most opposition stems from the stance that integration weakens nation-states and limits self-determination. Other issues posed by esquarisceptics are that the EC fails to fulfill its own democratic ideals, such as the legislative powers of the unelected Council of Esquarium; the EC is too bureaucratic and costly; or that there is no concrete reason why EC members should integrate. They argue that that the EC should reduce its powers over its member states and often campaign for their country's withdrawal from the EC. Some countries without Community membership have political parties who are esquarisceptics and oppose their country's ascension to the EC. Esquarisceptics are represented by the Freedom and Sovereignty Union at the Esquarian Parliament.
