Gjorka or the Federation of Gjorka is island country in the Northern World. At 1,967,000 Square Miles, it is the 6th largest country in the world. The Capital and Largest city is Gjorka City. Gjorka has an incredibly diverse terrain, from the largest mountain in the world, Mount Hadriel, to the flat plains of the eastern part of the country. Mount Hadriel is largely dormant but has created eruption fears in recent years.
It is unknown how Gjorka was colonized due to its distance for all major continents. There is no widely accepted theory however the earliest known history of Gjorkan dates back to 4000 B.C. in which Cave Drawings were found deep in a cave. The first traces of Gjorkan Society came in 2000 B.C in which the oldest structures were discovered near Xavian City. Several Buildings found about 30 years later all have a distinct marking on them. These markings are found all around Gjorka from as far north as Hokia to as far south as Xavian City and everywhere in between. These Marks are widely regarded as the lost traces of the First Gjorkan Kingdom that ruled over all of Gjorka. The only site where these buildings were not found was on Freeland.
The Early Golden Age came to be around the time of the fall of this Kingdom. This where Gjorkan Writing and Art flourished. Coalitions of Small Kingdoms living in peace created this Golden Age. However soon after the hundred-year blackout came. For Unkown Reasons, all writing and arts stopped. It appears Gjorkan Society vanished. Many Theorize a massive Tsunami hit the island however the cause of the Tsunami is Unkown and there is little evidence on Gjorka for it.
Several Kingdoms rose in this early time after the blackout. From the Kuoan Dynasty until it's collapse into the Thousand Kingdoms. From the period of a thousand kingdoms rose the Gjorkan Kingdom. However, this Kingdom collapsed into the Council System. After many years of instability and fighting, only three kingdoms remained on the Council. One Kingdom as able to annex the other two uniting the Island once more under the Ostpruss Dynasty. The Ostrpuss Dynasty ruled over Gjorka. However in 1856 a civil war broke out over rival claims to the throne. Nearly 5,000,000 died but Kaiser XXII emerged victorious. However, the empire didn't last much longer when in 1920, a Peasant Revolution stormed the Palace of the King. A Communist Dictatorship was put under place. Due to Bag Management, a deep recession hit the country in 1989. The Palace of the People was stormed, and the dictator killed. Resulting in the Establishment of the Federation of Gjorka
Gjorka is a Federal Presidental One Party Republic with the Chairman as it's leader. The Chairman has wide powers such as enacting laws, picking cabinet members, chairman decrees, approving senators and much more. His power is in check by the National Assembly which is the only trichambered legislature in the world. The Upper Chamber or the Senate is a mostly ceremonial branch approved by the Chairman. It has 6 Senators appointed by the Chairman, and 6 Senators elected from each district. The 6 Elected Senators must be approved by the Chairman. If he does not approve another election takes place. The Senate has little to no power but can veto bills with a unanimous vote. The Lower Chamber or the Congress is the only chamber that can propose laws and votes on them. The Congress is made up of three representatives from each district. The Middle Chamber or the Council of the People. The Council of the People votes on bills from the Congress. They made change the bill without Congressional Approval. Finally, they vote on it, before sending it to the Chairman. The Council is made up of 10 representatives from each district. However, the Mountain District has had all representation suspended since 1999.
The Gjorkan Armed Forces is one of the best equipped in the World which is the reasoning for its small size of 200,000 soldiers. Gjorkan Soldiers laser technology is regarded as the best in the world due to Mount Hadriel in which Crystals form in the Lava pools underneath the mountain. It is theorized the Crystals could even make lightsabers but has not been confirmed by the Gjorkan Government.
Gjorka is Capitalist Market Economy and has a mostly laissez-faire economic policy which has lead to massive economic growth. While still a developing country it is the fasted growing country in the world, and close to being considered developed. Gjorka's stance as a trade hub is also firm due to it being a vital connection between the two continents. The Government has noted they are willing to open more with the world.
Etymology
The Name Gjorka comes from the Northern Tribes. In Old Northern Gjorkan it is believed Gjorka means "United." When the Northern tribes conquered the Island they called themselves the Kingdom of Gjorka
