Novi'isida Conflict

Jump to navigation Jump to search

The Novi'isida Conflict was a series of concerns over whether the island of Novi'isida should be split off and formed as a separate county from Filan. A 1998 poll concluded that 89% of Garetolians living on Novi'isida supported it becoming a separate county. In 2000, Novi'isida was finally split and bcame the ninth county of Garetolia.

Following the Independence of Garetolia, Garetolia was divided into six counties. Mioanhatiin was split in 1989; Northern County was split into Northwestern Cona County and Filan County in 1997, the latter of which included Novi'isida. Although the population had advocated for full county status, then-prime minister Kono Por'o and the Garetolian Government were hesitant to further split Filan as the island's small population generated concerns over whether it could sustain itself as a county. Nevertheless, Filan was split three years later and Novi'isida was incorporated as the ninth and final county of Garetolia.
