Odevia, officially the United Federal States of Odevia (UFSO), is a country in the Southern realms and the second-most populous country in the Wider Realms. Spanning the South-West, Odevia's vast geography is diverse across its 8 federal states. The largest city is Ar Lavo and Johnston is the capital and second-largest city.

Human activity in what is now Odevia has been recorded since the Early era. During the Classic era, the South-Western realms was under the Pacalay Empire sphere of influence. The Radi-Fwani Empire arose in the Middle era and was the most considerable power in the South-West region until the Avenian Empire began its colonization and conquest of Odevia. Odevia was founded as a colonial federation in 1622 as a compromise from the South-West Rebellion. Odevia formally declared independence in 1695.

Odevia is a federal presidential republic, with the president as the head of state. The Odevian Armed Forces are the country's military. Odevia is a multicultural state; most of the population are Indigenous Southern language-speakers, followed by descendants of Avenian settlers, and modern immigrants. Common, the official language, is spoken as native and second language by 34% and 65% of the population respectively (in total 99%), and has become a global lingua franca. Dozens of other languages are spoken natively in Odevia, and there are 8 recognized national languages.

Odevia is a considerable power with a large diversified economy chiefly based in services, followed by industry and agriculture. Odevian culture, music, and films are globally popular in the Wider Realms. Odevia is a founding member of the Organization of Nations and the Democratic League. A democratic state, wealth inequality is a growing issue.

Government and politics

Odevia is the federal presidential republic. It is the worlds oldest intact federation and is composed of 8 states. Its constitution, the worlds oldest, is the country's supreme law and defines the government as composed of the executive President, an independent judiciary, and legislature. The President is the head of state and is elected every four years, wielding considerably executive power. The Federal Congress is the unicameral legislature of Odevia.

According to the Independent Organization, Odevia is "free" with elections considered generally "free and fair".

Odevia is ranked "somewhat safe", with certain urban regions having the most challenges. Harassment and abuse from law enforcement has been identified as a persistent issue. About one-fifth of the adult population is armed.

Alcohol consumption and purchase is legal and commonplace.

Odevian citizens can travel and obtain a passport issued by the Ministry of Public Services.

Culture

Odevia is home to a wide variety of ethnic groups, traditions, and values, traditionally united by a sense of civic nationalism and aspiration for liberty. Its culture is a "melting pot" of both Southern and Western influence. With Common Standard as the unifying national language and lingua franca, Odevia's cultural sector is enormous and is internationally popular and influential. Regionalism plays a large role in the cultures of individual Odevian states.
