'''The Democratic Party of Escandria''' ([[wikipedia:Spanish language|Spanish]]: ''El Partido Democrático de Escandria'') is one of the four major [[political parties in Escandria]]. It was founded in 1863 by a group of socially-minded nobles in the [[Kingdom of Escandria (1515-1878)|Kingdom of Escandria]], who were growing uneasy with the monarchy's hold onto power in Escandria. 

The party was a major player in the [[Escandrian Revolution of 1878]], with its leaders going on to form the first Government of Escandria. Many of the party's own values were enshrined in the [[Constitution of Escandria]], and formed the basis of Escandria's commitment to democracy. 

The party has held power for large period's in the country's history, with a majority of [[President of Escandria|Presidents]] and [[First Minister of Escandria|First Ministers]] belonging to the Democrats. The current President and First Minister, [[Alfonso Velasco Almánzar]] and [[Octávia Montero Alamilla]], are both members of the party.
