[[Korea (Manifest Destiny)|Korea]], officially the [[Korea (Manifest Destiny)|People's Republic of Korea]] ([[Korea (Manifest Destiny)|PRK]]), is a country in East Asia, constituting the Korean Peninsula and sharing a land border with Manchuria, while sharing an overseas border with Japan. Its western border is formed by the Yellow Sea, while its eastern border is defined by the Sea of Japan. It has a population of 76 million, of which roughly half live in the Seoul Capital Area, the fourth most populous metropolitan area in the world. Other major cities include Incheon, Busan, and Daegu.

Korea is a regional power and a highly developed country, with its economy being ranked as the world's thirteenth-largest by nominal GDP and the fourteenth-largest by GDP (PPP). It ranks nineteenth globally by Human Development Index, and has the third-highest life expectancy in the world. In recent years, the country has been facing an aging population and the lowest fertility rate in the world. Korea's citizens enjoy one of the world's fastest Internet connection speeds and the densest high-speed railway network. The country is the world's ninth-largest exporter and ninth-largest importer. Its armed forces are ranked as one of the world's strongest militaries, with the world's second-largest standing army by military and paramilitary personnel. It is a member of the WPTO, United Nations, the G20, the IPEF.

Korean politics distinguishes three main ideological camps or families. National government as being led by the left camp, in occasions sustained by the center o right camps. The right camp has being the political expression of the groups not associated to the left or of the few remaining pro capitalist circles still existing in Korea.

Korea is organized in National Regions, National Territories, Metropolitan Prefecture, Prefectures, Districts, Municipalities (includes Towns, Villages and Wards).

Each National Region, National Territory, Prefectural Metropolis, Prefecture and municipality has a chief executive, called a governor in prefectures and a mayor in local governments, or collegiate executive such as an Administrative Board. Most jurisdictions also have a unicameral assembly. Both the executive and assembly are elected by popular vote every four years.
