M. Azahari}}, became a unitary state and a constitutional monarchy with the {{wp|Sultan of Brunei}} as its ceremonial figurehead. Since then, despite a firm majority of its population being of the {{wp|Islamic}} faith, the country is known for its diverse ethnic makeup with {{wp|Bornean}} natives making up a plurality of the population, followed by the {{wp|Malays}}, the second-largest ethnic group, and the {{wp|Chinese}}, the third-largest ethnic group.
