Amaldorei, officially the Republic of Amaldorei, is a city-state situated on the island of Pandora located on the eastern-central continent of West Hiakemera in Esvanovia. Amaldorei shares a land border with the Marquesan Shogunate via Pandora and borders the Pandoran straits. A small nation with a population of just under eight million, the Republic is a highly developed city-state situated on an important trade point in the region. The city-state is situated into several wards, with Tendil being the largest by population. Amaldorei was formerly an established overseas territory of the Imperium of Amador, having since gained independence.

Amaldorei classifies itself as a Republic with its political leadership being the President and Prime Minister. However, the Republic is considered a Theocracy owing to the religious influences of the Church of the Twin Sisters. The Archpriestess Shara Isolem, is considered to be the true power of the Republic. The Prime Minister is considered the secondary force, often enforcing legislative goals for the Church, whereas the President is considered the political face of the nation.

The Church of the Twin Sisters is the largest religious organization in the nation, exerting near total control and influence on the nation, especially the government. Final legislative or executive action is taken by the Church through the Archpriestess. The Church also acts as the final judge for judicial hearings for appeals. The population is highly subservient to the Church to an almost fanatical point.

Amaldorei is an important economic center because of its geographic location on Pandora. It serves as a trade nexus, with ties between the Marquesan Imperium and the Empire of Aureumenterra, Det Stórveldi in their language. Entropot trading forms the backbone of the Amaldorein economic system, with raw imports being exports as finished goods. As a city important for local trade, Amaldorei possesses a small but advanced military force that works in conjunction with Marquesan and Aureumenterra to defend its sovereignty.

As much as ten percent of Amaldorei's land area is dedicated solely for nature reserves and parks. Three-fourths of naturally occuring flora and fauna are are now only found in dedicated nature preserves, including the Amaldorei Botanic Gardens, among the most popular attractions in the city-state. There has been a substantial decline in natural space owing in part to extensive urbanization of limited land available. To combat environmental loss, the Amaldorein government, starting in 2000 AD has set aside as much at 10 % of the city-state's land to preserve, protect, and cultivate local flora and fauna.

There are an estimated 974 species of vascular plants in Amaldorei, of which 478 are considered endangered. An estimated 65 species of mammals, 284 species of bird, 87 species of reptiles, and 13 species of amphibians native to Amaldorei.

Climate

Amaldorei has a tropical rain forest climate with no apparent distinctive season, relatively distinctive uniform temperatures, high humidity, and abundant bordering heavy rainfall. Temperatures typically range from 20 to 35 °C. Temperature does not vary greatly through the year, though the winter seasons see the most variations. There is a wetter monsoon season from November through January where rainfall exceeds 200 mm per month.

The main variable that affects Amaldorei's climate is rainfall, not temperature or air pressure. Humidity ranges anywhere between 65 % to 90 % on an average day, with several weeks of 100 % during the summer months. Winds are typically moderate, exceeding 30 km/h on occasion and are considered quite predictable. The waters surrounding Amaldorei are relatively warm, affecting land temperatures steadily.

Amaldorei averages roughly 2700 hours of sunshine per year. Sunshine hours were highest during the summer, where some days exceeded 12 hours of sunshine. Winter months, notably during December, average sunshine hours may exceed no more than 6 total hours daily.

Average water temperature ranges do not vary greatly, owing to Amaldorei's equatorial proximity in Esvanovia. Average temperatures range from 17-18 degrees Celsius year round, with minor variances during winter months and summer months.

Government and Politics

The Republic of Amaldorei is a federal, parliamentary, representative democratic republic through the authority of the Church of the Twin Sisters. The Amaldorein political system operates as laid out by the Constitution of the Republic of Amaldorei, whereupon it was established in XXXX. Legislative power is vested in the parliament through the upper House of Stella and the lower House of Hera. Together, the two house form the the Parliament of the Twin Sisters. The House of Stella is made up of elected officials from each of the 10 individual wards of the city-state. The House of Hera is formed from appointed members of each ward council, which are councils create to govern local ordinances. The Constitution can be amended through a three-fourths majority vote by both legislative houses. Several principles, including separation of powers, religious inclusion, and human dignity form the back-bone of the Amaldorein constitution.

The Church of the Twin Sisters plays a heavy influence in the government - to the extent that the President and Prime Minister are often seen as political figureheads, rather than leaders of the country.

Military

The Republic of Amaldorei possesses a small but advanced military with the sole priority of self defense, the Amaldorein Self-Defense Forces (ASDF). As of 2023, the combined active forces of the ASDF stood at 83,203 enlisted men and women across three military branches: The Amaldorein Defense Land Forces (ADLF), The Amaldorein Maritime Defense Forces (AMDF), and the Amaldorein Air Defense Forces (AADF). Amaldorei is a peaceful country, operating a stance of neutrality, albeit it warrants its own protections owing to the geopolitical tensions near Pandora. The ASDF spends roughly 2.0 % of the national GDP for the defense budget

The AMDF, the unified naval branch of the Republic operates, a fleet of 32 ships of various classifications and capabilities - most ships are of Marquesan origin. The AMDF is primarily tasked with defending Amaldorei's sovereignty, securing trade routes throughout the Republics EEZ, and providing safe passage near and around Pandoran waters. It is a mostly defensive force with very limited power projection capabilities. AMDF fleet compositions are primarily fielded around the Fsr.986 "Akurra" and the Fpr.965 "Damballa vessels of Marquesan-origin. The ADMF had an active duty enlistement of 23,789 in 2023, the second largest branch of the ASDF.

Demographics

According to the official census in 2022, the population of Amaldorei was 7,873,153, of which 5,668,670 (72%) were citizens and the remaining 2,204,482 (28%) were permanent residents, foreign workers under visa, dependants, or international students. Amaldorei's population is estimated to have increased by 6.4 % over the previous year, owing in large part to increased economic opportunities with Esvanovia and an increase in foreign workers. The census estimated at least one-third of the city-state's population were foreign born.

The 2022 census reported that about 27.3 % of its population were of Amaldorein descent, 40.2 % of Marquesan descent, 20.5 % of Aure descent. Slight increase among Marquesan and Amaldorein descent were reported form the previous census to the current. The remaining percentage of descent in the state is mixed between various nations of Esvanovia. The Amaldorein Cultural Center allows citizens to register as a member of a primary and secondary race, but not more than two. Citizens may claim descent otherwise.

Amaldorein fertility rate stands at 2.6 children per woman, allowing Amaldorei to have a positive population growth. This, however, is falling and is expected to be close to 1.9 children per woman by 2070. An aging population, limited land availability, and rising costs have had a negative impact of larger family. Amaldorei has announced plans to tackle the potential shortfall, which includes various incentives and land reclamation projects. The city-state also has a lax immigration policy to attract population.

Religion

Archpriestess Shara Isolem

The main religious body in the city-state is the Church of the Twin Sisters, a dualistic religion founded upon the beliefs in the twin sisters, Stella, and Hera. The Church of the Twin Sisters is led by an Archpriestess. The current Archriestess is Shara Isolem, having assumed her position in 2024 following her appointment via the Sister's Council. The Faith is a matriarchal religion, with a female head. The ArchPriestess is often considered the most powerful individual in the Republic, above even the Prime Minister and President. Each Archpriestess is appointed for life. The Archpriestess may either be from either sect of the religion, though most often, the Stella Sect is the primary sect.

The religion serves the twin deities, Stella and Hera - yin and yang, light and dark. Stella encapsulates light, wherin it preaches goodness in all things. Hera preaches the dark, wherein a person's darkest desires are to be brought to the surface. The two deities form a symbiotic relationship with one another, feeing off their divine energies to enhance their followings. The Church of the Twin Sisters views other religions as inferior, but does not preach intolerance. It is accepted that other humans/nonhumans have different religious views. Hera, however, will make an attempt to convert nonbelievers through typically peaceful means.

Education System

The state is the primary supporter and financier of primary, secondary, and tertiary educations, while Religious Acadamia is sponsored by the The Church of the Twin Sisters.The Department of Education is the primary overseer of educational facilities and all schools, private or public, must be registered through the department to operate. All instruction is done in the English Language.

Education takes place in three distinct stages: primary, secondary, and tertiary education, where primary and secondary are compulsory. Students typically spend six years in primary education, where development of Mathematics, English, and Science are the priority focus. Secondary schools typically last four-six years depending on whether or not a student is enrolled in a religious academy. Classes in secondary are more specialized than primary, but the structure remains the same. If a secondary student attends a religious academy, their instruction is more advanced and often indicates exceptional ability in religious idealogies and politics. Tertiary education, university or colleges, is not compulsory but is fully funded by the state. Universities offer several majors and minors, with the Church of the Twin Sisters playing a major roll in tertiary education.

Economy

Amaldorei's economy is a developed market economy with oversight from the national government. Growth rates historically have average upwards of 5% through the decades, though the most recent decade has seen a noticeable decrease in per annum growth to 3.2%. Owing to high economic growth rates, standards of livings have improved extensively in the last three decades. The Amaldorein economy is considered innovate, free, and business friendly to local and international companies and investors. Despites it free marketdesign, Amaldore's government does have a significant stake in the economy, which contributes to 17 % of the total GDP output of the city-state.

The Amaldorein workforce is highly educated, utilizing advanced infrastructure and merits little love for corruption. Corruption scandals are considered rare, though there have been a few notable cases over the years. Coupled with an educated workforce, low tax rates, and its general location in Esvanovia, the Amaldorein economy is highly competitive regionally.

International telecommunications in Amaldorei is handled by the government of Amaldorei with ward-designated priests of the Church of the Two Sisters handling local telecommunications.

Road Network

Amaldorei has a road system covering 2,200 kilometers, including 148 kilometres of expressways handling traffic from Pandora into the Republic. Because Amaldorei is a small country with a high population density, Amaladorei's government has restricted the amount of personal cars on the road system via a pre-set car population table. The benefit of this is it improves congestion and overall pollution. For personal vehicles, residents must apply for a Personal Vehicle Registration Pass (PVRP). The road system designated driving on the right side of the road.

Working in conjunction with the standard road system, Amaldorei's public transportation system is made up of various rail lines, including medium and light-rail systems, bus routes, and metro and monorail lines in the central core of the city-state. Taxis, typically of a cyan color, are also highly popular modes of transport. Bike paths, of which more than 100 km of paths have been made, are quite popular as well. Personal vehicle ownership is often considered the most expensive form of transportation in Amaldorei.
