Grand Azura, often referred to as Azura, is the largest city of Kva Norale. With a population of 12,315,000 in the city limits as of 2022, Grand Azura is among the largest cities in the Badlands Frontier. It is the commercial and financial capital of nation and is a major port city for the Badlands and a nexus of trade from international partners, including the Amadorian Imperium. As a melting point of cultures, Grand Azura is an ethnically and culturally diverse population. Alfar of the Froalfar, or 'Snow Elves', are the most prominent population in the city. Grand Azura is the principal city of the Greater Romanov-Borgisk Metropolitan Area, the largest urban area in Kva Norale with more than 22,379,431 civilians and growing.
Much of Grand Azura lies on the Pushnan Peninsula, the southernmost point on the island of Inyotalos and borders the Noralian Straits and northern oceans of the Badlands. Much of the city lies at sea level and is considered at risk for flooding and climate change. Several sea walls and flood preventative measures are currently ongoing to rectify the rising issue. The city is a magnet for higher learnings of the arcane, the the the University of the Alfar being found in the city.
The city-proper covers about 350 square miles and is the largest built up urban area in the territory. Grand Azura, as a cultural capital, is known for its decadent museums, rich culinary history, extensive canal network, and its Arcane Studies, making the city a major tourist destination. A substantial film industry exists as well. It is the most visited city in the territory, with more than 27,000,000 international tourists annually. Tourism is considered vital to the local economy, with various film studios, such as Ninebright Films being headquartered in the upscale 'Kor Tana' neighborhood of the city.
Grand Azura has a diverse economy with several industries, most notably its film industries and trading industries. The Port of Azura is among the busiest in the region and the busiest in Kva Norale. With a combined-metropolitan GDP of over $2 trillion, Grand Azura is possibly the wealthiest city in the Badlands and the wealthiest in Kva Norale. The urban core of the city is undergoing extensive cultural rehabilitation and several large-scale construction projects are ongoing, including the Central Bank Building of Kva Norale.
