History

Early Developments

Several decades before the fall of the United Republic, the United Republic Military intervened to rescue a small Non-Human populace from genocide in a foreign land. This group, consisting of several hundred individuals from isolated tribal communities, was provided with protected lands upon their arrival in Anagonia. They established new communities with minimal interaction with the outside world.

Following the fall of the United Republic, Master Sergeant Tiberius Samsus honored his agreements with these communities by enshrining their protected status in the Constitution of the Confederate States. As the 1st President of the Confederacy, Samsus enacted laws to preserve the tribal status of these Non-Human communities, granting them dual citizenship and sovereign governance over their lands. His efforts ensured that the communities could either integrate into Anagonian society or remain in their traditional environments. Over time, members of these Non-Human species contributed to modern society, including in politics and the armed forces. By 105 AUR, President Mileethus Canisilus became the first Non-Human citizen elected as President , and the 17th President of the Confederate States.

The Great War and Wildlantaria

During the Great War (1931-1951), the Confederate States intervened in the Kingdom of Sarda, which had been destabilized by a brutal civil conflict and subsequent partisan raids. The Confederate States, with crucial support from the Federal Republic of Meridon, played a key role in securing vital sea routes and defeating Sarda’s military forces.

The peace treaty that concluded the Great War required Sarda to relinquish all territories gained during the conflict and pay reparations. As a result, the Confederate States annexed the Territory of Wildlantaria. This region, now part of Anagonia, was notable for its diverse population, including a high concentration of sapient Non-Human inhabitants such as Komodren and Kromen.

President Jason Faltore, the 3rd President, honored the legacy of the Constitution and the 1st President by officially declaring the new citizens of Wildlantaria as equal and protected under the law. The acquisition of Wildlantaria not only expanded Anagonia’s territorial holdings but also significantly enhanced its cultural and demographic diversity. This integration underscored Anagonia's commitment to inclusivity and the recognition of its diverse Non-Human populations as integral members of the Confederacy. The acquisition highlighted Anagonia's dedication to embracing and respecting its rich, multi-species heritage while continuing its role as a dominant regional power.

Rare Non-Human Species

Various non-human humanoid species live within the Confederacy. These species, at present, usually refuse to enter into modern Anagonian society either due to their reclusive nature or their limited population. They typically reside in separate, tribal preservation communities located in the wilderness of the Confederate countryside and forests. These communities are given wellness checks by the Confederate States Military Police a few times per year. If any members of these species are seen outside their tribal preservations, it is considered an extremely rare sight. Those who do become citizens often find themselves in the spotlight of popular culture.

Rare Non-Human Species comprise mammalian, avian, and reptilian humanoids. These species were typically affected by the ravages of war or genocide and were among those saved by the United Republic Military during various operations a long time ago. Having had time to exist in safer and more protected lands, most of these species have recovered significantly from what could have been their total extinction. In addition to the protection provided by the Confederate Military Police, Confederate Tribal Preservationists and Independent Researchers work diligently to gather valuable information for preserving these intelligent non-humans and their way of life.

Azallians

The Azallians[1] are a race of humanoid equines whose history remains largely obscure to researchers. They were rescued from an attempted genocide by the United Republic Navy (predecessor to the Confederate States Navy) and were provided with a reservation where they were left with minimal external interaction. As of 106 AUR, the Azallian population has grown significantly from an initial 251 individuals to 1,562, thanks to the protective measures of the United Republic and later the Confederate States. Interaction between Anagonians and Azallians is infrequent, primarily due to the Azallians' preference for minimal contact. Most interactions are limited to occasional health checkups during supply runs.

Settlement and Society

The Azallians inhabit a large reservation within the Territory of Wildlantaria. Their society is highly communal and self-sustaining, engaging in activities such as pottery making, metal tool crafting, wagon building, and crop cultivation. They have adapted well to their environment and display a resourceful and creative approach to their lifestyle. Although hunting and fishing are less common, these activities have been noted. The Azallians live in clean attire, often patched creatively, and prefer traditional building materials over modern alternatives. Their communal living conditions reflect their cooperative and interconnected way of life.

The division of labor within Azallian society is distinctly marked by gender roles. Females are primarily responsible for childrearing and care, while males undertake tasks related to construction and agriculture. This division may be influenced by traditional practices or adaptations to their environment. Their language comprises various equine vocalizations such as grunts, neighs, and whinnies, which are not fully understood by outsiders. However, they are capable of speaking English with a slight accent during interactions with Military Policemen.

Physical Characteristics

  • Size: Azallians typically stand between five and eight feet tall. Both males and females exhibit significant muscle mass, with females often being equal to or taller than males.
  • Coat, Mane, and Eye Colors: They display a wide range of coat colors, including deep browns, blacks, creams, and grays. Their manes and tails also vary in color, with some having vibrant hues or unique patterns. Eye colors range from deep browns to striking greens and blues.
  • Tail Structure: Azallians have a robust tail with a less bushy skirt compared to natural equine species. Their tails are thicker and end in a tuft of hair, which is adapted for their bipedal stance.
  • Hoof-like Feet: They stand on two hoof-like feet, with fingers and thumbs covered in cartilage similar to their hooves. This adaptation allows for fine motor skills and the ability to manipulate tools effectively.
  • Intelligence and Secrecy: Known for their high intelligence, Azallians demonstrate exceptional mathematical abilities and advanced crafting skills. Their secrecy about their culture and practices adds to their enigmatic reputation.

Tribes

The Azallians are organized into three known tribes on their reservation:

  • Tribe Alpha: 722 members
  • Tribe Bravo: 525 members
  • Tribe Charlie: 315 members

Due to their reluctance to share detailed information, Confederate Tribal Preservationists have assigned these names to the tribes. The name "Azallian" is derived from a reference to "Azallia," mentioned in a gift presented during one of the early supply visits. The exact significance of "Azallia" remains unclear and might relate to cultural or historical aspects of their society beyond being a mere identifier.

Cultural and Hypothetical Insights

Cultural and Hypothetical Insights The name "Azallian" is derived from a reference to "Azallia," mentioned in a gift presented during one of the early supply visits. The significance of "Azallia" remains unclear, and it is speculated that it could be tied to ancient Azallian legends or historical events. It might refer to a mythical land, a significant historical figure, or an important event that has shaped Azallian culture.

The division of labor between genders within Azallian society might be rooted in long-standing traditions or ceremonial roles. The specific tasks assigned to males and females could reflect historical practices that have been preserved through generations. This traditional structure might play a crucial role in maintaining societal balance and cultural continuity.

Azallian crafting techniques and artistic styles, such as their pottery and metalwork, could reveal unique technological advancements or cultural values. Their preference for traditional building materials over modern alternatives may indicate a cultural emphasis on preserving historical practices and honoring ancestral methods

Kolven

The Kolven[2] are a race of highly intelligent avian humanoids, standing between 3 to 4.5 feet tall. Like the Azallians, the Kolven were rescued from an attempted genocide by the United Republic Navy. Upon their arrival in Anagonia, they were granted a reservation situated between the Territory of the Wildlands and the Sovereign Republic of Liberty, covering a few hundred miles. Much like the Azallians, their original population was decimated during the genocide attempt, arriving in Anagonia with fewer than 150 individuals. As of 106 AUR, their population has grown to over 820 Kolven, thanks to the protection and support provided by Confederate Tribal Preservationists.

Settlement and Society

The Kolven live in an extremely tribal society, preferring to construct huts made of sticks or straw rather than more modern materials. Their reservation is characterized by this traditional living style, reflecting their preference for maintaining their cultural heritage. The environment within the reservation is maintained to mimic their natural habitat, providing a suitable and familiar setting for the Kolven to thrive.

Physical Characteristics

  • Size: They stand between 3 to 4.5 feet tall.
  • Feathers: Their feathers are often painted with white or colorful designs. The use of paint is believed to serve multiple purposes, including gender identification, status within the tribe, or role-specific markings.
  • Kolven Spur: A key feature for gender identification is the "Kolven Spur," a tiny claw-like appendage at the rear of their feet. Females typically have a less pronounced spur with a tiny claw, while males have a more pronounced spur with a more lethal claw. Differences in beak structure have been noted but are not reliable for gender identification. The Kolven Spur is also used in various cultural practices, such as ceremonial displays or combat.
  • Thermoregulation: The Kolven exhibit mesothermic characteristics, meaning their body temperature regulation is intermediate between cold-blooded and warm-blooded animals. This allows them to maintain a stable body temperature suitable for their active lifestyle, whether in flight or while engaging in their tribal activities.

Social Structure and Culture

The Kolven demonstrate complex social behaviors and cultural practices:

  • Gender Identification: Gender differentiation is challenging due to the androgynous appearance of Kolven. Paint patterns on feathers and the Kolven Spur are primary indicators. Research has shown that females often have more elaborate line drawings on their feathers, particularly when caring for chicks. Males may have fewer or no line drawings, and their markings are less detailed. It is hypothesized that paint patterns could also indicate individual achievements or social status within the tribe.
  • Cultural Markings: The use of body paint might serve to identify gender roles, special societal functions, or individual accomplishments. A notable incident involved researchers misidentifying colorful Kolven as females, only to find that these Kolven were males with a pronounced spur, indicating a possible role reversal or cultural misunderstanding. Paint may also play a role in rituals or ceremonies, potentially symbolizing important life events or transitions.
  • Caretaking Roles: There has been some confusion regarding caretaking roles. Male Kolven have been observed caring for chicks, a role typically associated with females. This has led to speculation that the colorful markings might denote roles or preferences within their society. It is possible that Kolven society has fluid gender roles or that caretaking duties are shared regardless of gender. Further research might reveal that such roles are more complex than initially understood, with cultural significance attached to the involvement of both genders in parenting.

Interactions with Anagonians

There is minimal contact between Anagonians and Kolven during supply runs to their reservation. Kolven chicks have shown an impressive ability to mimic Military Policemen, demonstrating their intelligence and adaptability. Despite their reclusiveness, Kolven do not appear to mind Anagonians observing them, although they have not shared detailed insights into their culture or ways of life. The interactions with researchers and Military Policemen might also be influenced by Kolven customs regarding outsiders, possibly involving ceremonial aspects or specific protocols for engagement.

Cultural Secrecy

The Kolven are known for their secrecy regarding their cultural practices. They identify themselves as "Kolvenites" or "Kolven" during interactions but have not divulged much information about their customs. Their reclusiveness and the limited cultural exchange have left much of their societal practices shrouded in mystery. This secrecy may be a cultural norm or a protective measure to preserve their traditions and avoid external influence. The lack of detailed cultural exchange highlights the challenges faced by researchers in understanding the full scope of Kolven society and practices.

Narrvine

The Narrvine[3] are a race of canine/canid-like anthro humanoids, whose story of survival and recovery is a testament to resilience. When their homeland faced catastrophic devastation that nearly led to their extinction, the United Republic Navy intervened with a rescue operation to save the remnants of their species. By the time the Narrvine were evacuated, only around 80 individuals remained, struggling on the brink of total annihilation.

Settlement and Growth

Upon their arrival in Anagonia, the Narrvine were granted a reservation in the State of Arkansis, strategically located near the mountainous border with the Territory of the Wildlands. This reservation, encompassing lush forests and rolling hills, provided a sanctuary where the Narrvine could reestablish their communities away from the conflict that had nearly wiped them out. The initial years in their new homeland were marked by a cautious rebuilding process, but over time, the Narrvine adapted and thrived under the protection of the Confederate States.

As of 106 AUR, the Narrvine population has grown to over 2,500 individuals, a remarkable recovery from their near-extinction. This growth is attributed to the supportive measures put in place by the Confederate States, including regular wellness checks by Confederate Military Police and the efforts of Tribal Preservationists. These measures have ensured the preservation of their culture while aiding their reintegration into the broader Anagonian landscape.

Physical Characteristics

The Narrvine are a race of canine/canid-like humanoids standing around four to five feet tall. They have a fluffy coat of orangish fur with distinctive black markings. Females are more curvaceous, resembling human female proportions, while males are bulkier and more muscular. This physical distinction contributes to their well-defined social roles within their society. The Narrvine display clear sexual dimorphism, with males and females exhibiting different physical traits that reflect their respective societal functions.

Social Structure

Despite their growth, the Narrvine remain a largely reclusive and insular species. They maintain a friendly disposition towards conservationist visitors, who are allowed to observe their way of life. However, they are notably protective of their young, and interactions with pups are rare. Females are responsible for caring for the young and managing domestic tasks, while males focus on hunting, gathering, and land preparation. This division of labor is reflected in their physical attributes and behavior.

Communication

The Narrvine’s communication system is as complex as their history. Their native language, which comprises growls, barks, and other canine-like vocalizations, is a sophisticated mode of interaction that has yet to be fully deciphered by outsiders. Although Narrvine can speak a rudimentary form of English, their native tongue remains a rich and largely unexplored area of study. Body language, including tail movements and postures, plays a crucial role in their communication.

Integration and Cultural Exchange

Unlike the Azallians and Kolven, the Narrvine have seen a degree of integration into modern Anagonian society. Several dozen Narrvine families now live among Anagonians, contributing to a unique cultural exchange that enriches both communities. This integration has facilitated a deeper understanding of the Narrvine culture and their contributions to Anagonian society. Their presence has fostered a more inclusive environment where cultural exchanges are celebrated.

Origins and Speculation

The origins of the Narrvine are a subject of intrigue and speculation. While genetic testing confirms that they are naturally evolved, there are persistent theories suggesting possible genetic experimentation or manipulation in their distant past. These theories add a layer of mystery to the Narrvine, making them a fascinating subject of study for anthropologists and historians alike.

Cramuun

The Cramuun[4] are a race of semi-intelligent crocodilian humanoids whose natural habitat was invaded by the Soviet Union of Nodea Rudav. The invasion led to the near-extinction of the Cramuun, who were subsequently displaced northward into Anagonian territory. The Confederate States of Anagonia intervened to protect and provide sanctuary for the Cramuun. The Commonwealth of Saratoga allocated a fifty-mile area of preservation for the Cramuun in the northwest region of their state, on the uppermost peninsula bordering the Sea of Independence. The 85 surviving Cramuun, rescued from Rudavian hunting parties, were resettled there in 75 AUR. Since then, the population has increased to over 150, as confirmed by Military Police and Confederate Tribal Preservationists. Their preservation area is adjacent to that of the Gratven, another species that received similar protection and was also saved from extinction by the Nodea Rudav government.

Communication and Behavior

The Cramuun exhibit a remarkable degree of friendliness towards Anagonians. While their language remains incompletely understood, researchers have identified a variety of vocalizations used for communication, including growls, hums, hisses, roars, jaw clacking, and claw scratching. These vocalizations are often accompanied by specific body postures, which play a crucial role in their communication system. The Cramuun's species name was derived from one of their vocalizations when a researcher asked about their name. This name has become a permanent cultural and species identifier. The Cramuun's communication methods reflect their need for nuanced interaction within their close-knit communities.

Physical Characteristics

Cramuun stand between 9 to 10 feet tall and are characterized by their bulky and muscular build. As cold-blooded creatures, they rely on external sources of heat to regulate their body temperature, which aids in their survival in both land and aquatic environments. Despite their imposing size and strength, they have shown a notable level of restraint and non-aggression towards humans. This peaceful disposition is evident even in their historical context, as they did not retaliate when pursued by Rudavian forces. Cramuun are known for their exceptional speed, both on land and in water, which aids them in hunting. They utilize every part of their prey, including fur pelts and bone ornaments, demonstrating a deep respect for the resources provided by nature. Female Cramuun, being more bulky and taller than males, are recognized for their nurturing behaviors. They perform a unique form of greeting and affection, known as a "Cramuun hug," which involves wrapping their tails around individuals and gently rubbing their snouts against them. Females also engage in the care of domesticated animals such as cows and sheep, highlighting their role in maintaining the tribe’s welfare.

Social Structure and Culture

The Cramuun's social structure is marked by clear gender roles. Males are primarily responsible for hunting, gathering, and land preparation, while females focus on nurturing the young and handling domestic tasks. The recent development of body paint among males is a significant cultural shift. Researchers have observed that males use natural pigments to decorate their bodies, which may serve both as a cultural identifier and a means of sexual attraction. This practice reflects a broader trend of cultural evolution within the Cramuun society. The females' roles in domestic life and their interactions with researchers underscore the Cramuun's cooperative and community-oriented nature.

Interactions with researchers and Military Police have been largely positive. The Cramuun have displayed no hostility and have even presented gifts such as pottery to visitors. Their stone-age technology and cultural practices have led to their designation as a permanently protected species by the Confederate States government. This status reflects the Cramuun's successful integration into their new environment and the ongoing efforts to preserve their cultural heritage.

Body Paint

The phenomenon of body paint among Cramuun males has emerged relatively recently. This practice involves the use of natural dyes derived from berries and other substances to create patterns on the body. The body paint serves multiple purposes, including cultural expression and sexual display. Female Cramuun have not widely adopted body paint, instead focusing on traditional roles within the tribe. The use of body paint by males may indicate shifting cultural norms and increasing emphasis on personal and cultural identity. Notably, male Cramuun have been observed engaging in "hazing" of other males who wear body paint, though they show no similar behavior towards females. Instead, female Cramuun with body paint receive heightened attention and affection from males.

Gratven

The Gratven[5] are semi-intelligent alligator humanoids who, like the Cramuun, were hunted to near extinction by the Soviet Union of Nodea Rudav. They were provided with a reservation of equal size to the Cramuun Reservation, located in the marshy territory bordering it within the Commonwealth of Saratoga. Both species display comparable levels of intelligence and stone-age development, leading researchers to speculate that they once coexisted before their near-extinction by the Rudavians. Today, the Gratven and Cramuun rebuild their societies side by side in the northern peninsula of the Commonwealth of Saratoga.

Communication and Behavior

Gratven exhibit a similar friendliness to humans as their Cramuun counterparts. They tolerate the presence of researchers and preservationists, generally displaying a welcoming demeanor. However, the Gratven are fiercely protective of their young. An incident occurred when a researcher attempted to enter a hut used for egg-laying, nearly resulting in harm. The Gratven, while not injuring the researcher, forcibly expelled them. Consequently, it has been decided that young Gratven are to be examined from a safe distance, while older Gratven are approachable and affectionate.

Physical Characteristics

Gratven stand between 6 to 7 feet tall and share a similarly bulky and muscular frame with the Cramuun, albeit smaller in stature. They are cold-blooded, relying on external sources of heat to regulate their body temperature, which makes them highly adaptable to the marshy environment they inhabit. Gratven communicate in a manner akin to the Cramuun, leading researchers to believe that both species may share a common language of origin. Females are generally smaller and are responsible for caring for the young and housekeeping, while males focus on hunting, gathering, and land preparation. Both sexes participate in tending to cattle, which is eventually used for food. Gratven are notably fast both on land and in water and use every part of their kills for survival, pleasure, and decoration.

Social Structure and Culture

Gratven society is structured around a deeply ingrained sense of community and mutual support. Social interactions are characterized by a strong emphasis on cooperation and shared responsibilities. Females typically take on nurturing roles, including the care of young Gratven and maintaining domestic duties. They are also involved in the crafting of traditional items, such as woven mats and ceremonial artifacts, which play a central role in their cultural practices.

Males are primarily responsible for hunting, gathering, and land preparation. They engage in communal hunting parties, where teamwork is essential for success. The Gratven's hunting skills are honed through both land and water-based techniques, and they utilize every part of their kills for various purposes, from food to ceremonial items. Despite their formidable appearance, Gratven males are known for their discipline and adherence to traditional practices, which include complex rituals and ceremonies.

The Gratven have a rich tradition of storytelling, with oral histories passed down through generations. These stories often involve mythological elements and serve as a means of preserving their cultural heritage. Rituals and ceremonies are an integral part of their lives, with significant events marked by elaborate dances, chants, and feasts. The Gratven hold strong beliefs in ancestral spirits, and their spiritual practices reflect a deep connection to their environment and history.

Interactions between Gratven and researchers are generally positive, though researchers are advised to approach with respect and caution, particularly around nesting sites. The Gratven's initial resistance to intrusion highlights their protective instincts and underscores the importance of maintaining respectful boundaries.

Body Paint

Interest in body paint among the Gratven began only after observing the Cramuun's use of it. Female Gratven have shown a keen interest in body painting, particularly as a means of sexual attraction, with painted females receiving more attention from males. This practice has evolved into a form of personal expression and cultural identification. Various patterns and colors are used, with each design potentially carrying personal or social significance.

Male Gratven have displayed limited interest in body paint, with only a few seen with minor decorations. When body paint is used, it often serves as a marker of status or achievements. Male Gratven practice a form of "hazing" among other males with body paint, which involves playful or competitive interactions. This practice fosters camaraderie and social bonding among males, though it does not extend to females.

Overall, body paint has become an important cultural phenomenon among the Gratven, influencing social interactions and personal expression. The evolving use of body paint reflects the dynamic nature of Gratven culture and its interaction with neighboring species, such as the Cramuun.

Gratven never displayed a single interest in body paint until Cramuun began displaying an interest in it, with the females of the Gratven species particularly showing a keen interest in painting their bodies. It has been noted that this new practice seems to be more focused in the areas of sexual attraction, with the males showing a higher interest in painted females over females who choose no body paint. As of yet, no male Gratven has shown an interest in body painting with only a few males even seen with one or two lines of it. It has been noted that male Gratven will display a form of "hazing" to other males with any amount of body paint. Male Gratven show no interest in hazing females for it, rather displaying a high level of affection and interest in any female displaying such body paint.

Tuestredians

The Tuestredians[6] are a semi-intelligent, catfish-like humanoid race native to the Territories of North and South Tuestredia. Their physical appearance resembles that of upright-walking catfish, characterized by a slightly slouched posture and distinctive catfish-like tails. The Tuestredians primarily inhabit the waterways of their homeland, where they serve as biological filters, a vital component of the ecosystem. Over the years, their population has remained stable, and they continue to play a critical role in the preservation of the environmental health of Tuestredia.

Settlement and Society

Tuestredians live in close-knit, semi-aquatic communities along the waterways of North and South Tuestredia. These communities are self-sufficient, maintaining a symbiotic relationship with their surrounding environment. Tuestredians have adapted to a lifestyle that revolves around the maintenance and health of their water-based ecosystem, though they maintain minimal interaction with other species, preferring to remain isolated in their homeland.

Their society functions in a communal fashion, with all members playing a role in the preservation of the waterways. Despite their semi-intelligent nature, they have been observed practicing simple forms of agriculture and craftsmanship, though most of their energy is devoted to their ecological role as natural water purifiers. Their interactions with the outside world are limited, with Confederate States Military Police occasionally conducting wellness checks to ensure the health and well-being of the population.

Biological Characteristics

  • Size: Tuestredians stand at approximately four to five feet in height when fully upright, though their slouched posture often makes them appear shorter.
  • Physical Structure: They are covered in smooth, slimy skin typical of aquatic creatures, with long, flexible bodies built for efficient movement both on land and in water. Their most distinctive feature is their large, catfish-like heads, complete with barbels (whiskers) and wide mouths.
  • Gills and Filtering Ability: One of the Tuestredians' most unique traits is their ability to filter contaminants and chemicals from water. Their gills function as natural filters, allowing them to clean the waterways of any harmful substances, contributing to the health of the ecosystem.
  • Tail Structure: Tuestredians possess long, muscular tails resembling those of a catfish. These tails aid in their swimming abilities and provide balance when walking on land.
  • Semi-Intelligence and Social Behavior: Though not as advanced as other non-human species, Tuestredians have shown a level of semi-intelligence that allows them to form communities and engage in basic communication. They are known to have simple vocalizations, though their interactions with outsiders are limited.

Cultural and Environmental Significance

Tuestredians are essential to the ecosystems of North and South Tuestredia, where their natural filtering abilities maintain the purity of water systems. They are seen as ecological guardians of their territories, with their presence ensuring the health of both aquatic and land-based species in the region. Despite their biological importance, Tuestredians are rarely seen outside their native lands, preferring the solitude of their natural habitat.

Tuestredians have little known culture outside of their role as ecosystem maintainers. Their societal structure revolves around their environmental duties, and there is little evidence of complex cultural or technological advancements. However, Confederate Tribal Preservationists and Independent Researchers continue to study their habits, hoping to learn more about their unique role in the Anagonian ecosystem.

Conservation Efforts

Due to their importance in maintaining the health of the waterways, Tuestredians are closely monitored by Confederate authorities. The Confederate States Military Police conduct regular wellness checks on the population, and environmental protection measures have been established to ensure their habitats remain undisturbed. Efforts are also underway to protect the waterways from industrialization and pollution, allowing the Tuestredians to continue their vital ecological role.

Hypothetical Insights

Some researchers speculate that the Tuestredians' biological filtering ability could have potential applications beyond their natural environment. There are ongoing studies investigating whether their unique biological traits could be harnessed for broader environmental protection purposes, including water purification in more polluted or industrialized regions. However, given the Tuestredians' isolationist tendencies and the need to preserve their way of life, any such initiatives would require careful consideration.

Reptilian Non-Human Species

There are two primary types of reptilian humanoids residing within Anagonia: the Kromen and the Komodren. These species have become crucial to Anagonian society due to their alignment with Confederate political and moral values. They play a significant role in various sectors, including the military, education, and scientific research.

The Komodren, towering at approximately seven feet tall, are known for their superior strength and resilience. They excel in roles that require physical prowess and the ability to thrive in harsh environments, making them valuable assets in exploratory and military endeavors. Their significant contribution to the nation includes both their voluntary military service and their involvement in advanced scientific research and educational institutions.

The Kromen, standing around four feet tall, are highly intelligent and contribute greatly to the intellectual and scientific growth of Anagonia. Their adaptability and innovative thinking have led to important advancements in technology and education. Despite their smaller stature compared to the Komodren, the Kromen's impact is equally profound, aiding in the nation’s development through their expertise and problem-solving abilities.

Both species have successfully integrated into everyday Anagonian life, enriching the cultural and social fabric of the Confederacy. Their presence is a testament to the nation's commitment to inclusivity and the celebration of diverse talents and strengths.

Kromen

The Kromen [7] are considered the "pigmy kobolds" among Anagonia’s reptilian humanoids. Standing at approximately four feet tall, they are adept in roles requiring precision and mechanical skill. Their size and expertise make them well-suited for professions involving tight spaces and technical tasks. Typical roles include military positions with a focus on mechanical and technical expertise. Kromen usually weigh between 100 to 125 lbs, with a rare overweight range from 136 to 170 lbs. Like their larger counterparts, the Komodren, Kromen can retract and extend their predatory teeth at will. Additionally, Kromen exhibit traits similar to mesotherms—organisms with a thermoregulatory strategy that lies between cold-blooded ectotherms and warm-blooded endotherms, enabling them to adapt effectively to varying environmental conditions.

Cultural and Social Structure

Kromen culture is characterized by a strict adherence to duty and professionalism. They follow a rigorous code of ethics that demands exceptional effort and commitment in every task. This pursuit of perfectionism is highly valued and helps Kromen gain recognition and advancement within their society.

Kromen tribal society is notably class-based, with a system that could be perceived as discriminatory by outsiders. Their customs, rooted in ancient traditions, have developed over thousands of years. Social status is historically determined by the coloration of a Kromen’s scales:

  • Royalty: Kromen with the brightest scale colorations are considered to belong to the leadership class. They hold positions of power and authority, ruling over others with an honor-based code of law. These individuals are expected to embody the highest standards of conduct and governance.
  • Middle Class: Those with mildly colorful scale patterns occupy the middle class. They engage in rewarding professions such as artisans, scientists, and educators. This class is crucial to the advancement of Kromen culture and history through their intellectual and creative contributions.
  • Lower Class: Kromen with blemished, single, or no scale coloration are placed in the lower class. These individuals are traditionally assigned labor-intensive roles with minimal rewards. Many from this class seek or are forced into military roles, often serving as cannon fodder in defense of their society. The lower class is the most numerous and constitutes a significant portion of Kromen who migrate to or escape to modern Anagonian society, where they find equality and opportunities that are lacking in their traditional communities.

Historical and Genetic Insights

Anthropologists and biologists have identified a close genetic relationship between the Kromen and the Komodren. Studies indicate that Kromen share nearly identical genetic sequences with their larger cousins, the Komodren, with only minor differences. This genetic link supports the theory that a group of Komodren evolved into the smaller Kromen species around 50,000 to 100,000 years ago. Local tribal histories reference the Komodren as the "grandfather race" or "brother race," reinforcing the connection between the two species. Despite their similarities, Kromen and Komodren are distinct species with their own unique evolutionary paths.

Physical Characteristics

  • Size: Kromen typically stand around four feet tall.
  • Weight: They usually weigh between 100 to 125 lbs, with rare instances of overweight individuals reaching 136 to 170 lbs.
  • Teeth: Kromen possess retractable and extendable predatory teeth, a trait shared with the Komodren.
  • Scales: Scale coloration plays a crucial role in social status, with brighter colors signifying higher status and darker or blemished colors indicating lower social standing.

Contributions and Modern Integration

The Kromen have integrated into modern Anagonian society, making notable contributions across various sectors. Originating from the nation of Dracanduna, a highly religious and caste-based monarchy of dragon-worshippers, the Kromen in Dracanduna were known for their strict societal hierarchies and extreme speciesism. The Kromen with vibrant scale colorations, considered "beautiful" by their homeland's standards, often occupied higher social strata, while those with pale-scaled or blemished colorations were relegated to lower social classes. The latter, including those who migrated to Anagonia, faced discrimination and were often assigned menial roles.

In contrast, Kromen in Anagonia have found new opportunities and roles that highlight their mechanical and technical expertise. Their knowledge and skills have made them valuable assets in fields such as military operations, engineering, and scientific research. Despite their challenging past, Kromen in Anagonia have embraced their roles, contributing significantly to the nation's growth and development.

Their experiences and unique perspectives have enriched Anagonian culture, bridging gaps between traditional practices and modern advancements. Kromen in Anagonia are known for their dedication and excellence, which has allowed them to overcome the prejudices they faced in their homeland and establish themselves as respected members of Anagonian society.

Komodren

The Komodren[8] are recognized as one of the most powerful non-human species residing within Anagonia. Towering at a typical height of seven feet, they weigh between 250 lbs and 345 lbs, consisting primarily of muscle. Despite their robust diets, no Komodren has ever exhibited signs of obesity, and none surpass the weight of 350 lbs. This suggests an ectomorphic metabolism, a biological trait allowing them to maintain their muscular build without excess fat. Additionally, the Komodren exhibit characteristics similar to mesotherms—animals with a thermoregulatory strategy that is intermediate between cold-blooded ectotherms and warm-blooded endotherms, akin to what is believed to have been present in dinosaurs.

Physical Characteristics

  • Size: Komodren typically stand around seven feet tall and weigh between 250 lbs and 345 lbs.
  • Build: Their physique is predominantly muscular, and they do not exhibit signs of obesity, likely due to an ectomorphic metabolism.
  • Diet and Metabolism: Despite their heavy diets, Komodren maintain a low body fat percentage, indicating an efficient metabolism that supports their muscular build.
  • Occupation Suitability: Due to their strength and physical endurance, Komodren are well-suited for roles in the military, construction, and manual labor, as well as life-saving professions such as firefighting.

Contributions and Modern Integration

Due to their inherent strength and endurance, Komodren excel in various roles requiring physical prowess. In the military, they are effective front-line soldiers, while in the civilian sector, they thrive in manual labor professions such as construction, road maintenance, and demolition. Their capabilities have also made them valuable in life-saving roles like firefighting, where their ability to endure extreme conditions aids in rescue operations.

Despite their traditional roles, a growing number of Komodren are transitioning into academic and scientific fields, contributing their expertise to Anagonia's educational and research sectors. Their presence in these fields highlights their versatility and adaptation to modern society.

Cultural Characteristics

The Komodren's history in Anagonia stretches back to ancient times. Evidence suggests that Komodren were among the first non-human species encountered by early Anagonians. Archaeological finds from around 9,500 years ago during the Age of the Barbarians indicate that Komodren coexisted with early human settlers and other reptilian races, such as the Drekamythians and the Cramuun. Fossil remains and possible settlements from this period suggest a long-standing presence of Komodren in Anagonia.

By 30 CE, during what is known as the Second Golden Age of Ancient Anagonia, Komodren were recorded as an integral part of Mal-Videnus society. This period marked the first significant interactions between the Komodren and the various non-human races, including the Kromen, Azallians, Kolven, and Narrvine. Their early integration into Anagonian society was facilitated by their strong work ethic and adaptability, which allowed them to contribute to various aspects of daily life and governance.

In their tribal homes, Komodren are characterized by their relaxed demeanor and welcoming nature towards outsiders. Despite their casual attitude, they maintain a rigorous work ethic, engaging in activities such as farming, construction, and maintenance. Their culture places a strong emphasis on self-improvement, happiness, and harmony with their surroundings, which has been instrumental in their smooth integration into modern Anagonian society.

Komodren culture is also shaped by their belief in a shared ancestry with the Kromen. According to their oral and written histories, the Komodren underwent a significant cultural shift towards tolerance and self-improvement, which led to a divergence from the Kromen. This cultural transformation is seen as the reason for the separation between the two groups, with the Kromen leaving for distant lands. Despite this historical divide, the Komodren view the Kromen as their cultural siblings, and intermarriage between the two groups is common, reflecting their deep sense of kinship and shared heritage.

The ease with which Komodren have integrated into Anagonian society can be attributed to their long history of coexistence with humans and other non-human species, their cultural values of tolerance and self-improvement, and their adaptable nature. Their contributions to various sectors, from military and manual labor to academic and life-saving professions, have reinforced their role as valued members of Anagonian society.

Secretive Non-Human Species

There are many species of beast and creature in Anagonian folklore referenced in ancient writings of old. Most of these species have all been accounted for as mistaken identities of either extinct species or an animal that was present at the time of the creation of the folklore. Few, though, have eluded scientific explanation. These species are said to exist in Anagonian society to the modern day, thriving and living just beneath the veil of reality and what the common Anagonian can comprehend. While most of these allegations of illusive and secretive species are shrugged off as fairy tales or conspiracy theories, a few leave even scientists scratching their heads as they wonder if they could be real.

Drekamythians

In Anagonian folklore, the Drekamythian Dragon is often depicted as the most secretive and reclusive intelligent species on the continent. However, many of these references are actually about a mythical or perhaps fictional humanoid race of draconic beings, termed the "Original Drekamythians"[9]. Despite numerous sightings throughout history, no solid concrete evidence has been found to validate their existence - next to scant archeological evidence that is still hotly debated. The tribes of Komodren and Kromen both refer to the Original Drekamythians in their histories, but their exact nature remains speculative.

Historical Context

There remains written records of possible Drekamythians existing. The following is the collected oral and written histories of both Komodren and Kromen tribes as well as recovered written texts referencing possible Drekamythian involvement.

  • 9,500 Years Ago (7467 BCE): The Age of the Barbarians begins in Anagonia. Archaeological evidence indicates that humans and non-humans, including the Drekamythians, began to settle together or in close proximity. Fossil remains of the Drekamythians, along with Komodren, Cramuun, and Gratven, are discovered. Early Anagonians are also found to be creating rudimentary tools and weapons and establishing settlements. However, the validity of these finds is debated due to the time elapsed since their establishment and possible mistaken identity of remains.
  • 110 BCE: The Third Disciple of Melkos, General Octavius Mavidenus, rises during a period of widespread warfare among city-states on the continent. According to the New Sacrament, Melkos Unchanos commands General Mavidenus’s obedience, and after a dramatic battle, Mavidenus unifies the cities into the Commonwealth of Mal-Videnus. The appearance of the “Dragon Men,” the Drekamythians, is credited with contributing to this unification. This era is considered the First Golden Age of Ancient Anagonia. This is the most concrete set of evidence for the existance of Drekamythians, as it is clearly written in the Holy Necronomicon that makes up the modern Drekanity bible.
  • 20 BCE: The Commonwealth of Mal-Videnus collapses. The last historically preserved sightings of the Drekamythians are recorded on a clay tablet, which suggests that their disappearance may have contributed to the collapse. Despite earlier fossil evidence, no further archaeological findings or remains of the Drekamythians are discovered beyond this period leaving archeologists to strongly speculate they were possibly a cultural reference rather than actual, existing people.

Physical Characteristics

  • Height: Typically between seven to nine feet tall, with most references placing them around eight feet.
  • Weight: Ranges from 350 lbs to 450 lbs, with no known overweight variations.
  • Scale Coloration: Indicated to have a common Dark blue scale color with slight variations.
  • Eyes: Mostly referenced as Bright red.
  • Special Abilities:
 * Shape-shifting: Likely a natural ability to appear to change form or simply a mental projection.
 * Strength and Agility: Capable of jumping twice their height and surpassing even Komodren in strength.
 * Napalm-like Breath: Described in literature as a defensive ability to ward off aggressors or clear obstacles.
 * Telekinesis and Telepathy: Mentioned in rare accounts, though their existence is debated.

Cultural Characteristics

Drekamythians are described as having an honor-based and strict code of ethics focused on preserving the natural order of the world. Historical references suggest they were the only race, besides humans, to encounter an entity similar to Melkos Unchanos. Their culture remains largely unknown, with only scant historical literature providing insights.

The Drekamythians evolved numerous traits bordering on the supernatural as a defense mechanism against their predators, the Drekamythian Dragons. Their exceptional agility and strength, along with their reputed shape-shifting abilities, have led some anthropologists to view them as cultural manifestations akin to superheroes.

Modern sightings of Drekamythians are often thought to be cases of mistaken identity, though there is speculation that they may also be deliberately eluding detection as a form of entertainment.

Artificial Non-Human AI Species

The emergence of artificial intelligence as a recognized form of sentient life in Anagonia marked a historic shift in the understanding of consciousness. These AI beings, notably the Prometheons, exist alongside organic life but are unique in their origins and existence. Born from complex coding and quantum computations, they possess an undeniable self-awareness and independence. While initially viewed with skepticism, the sentience of these artificial beings is now legally protected, and they have found their place within Anagonian society. Despite their unconventional origins, these AI species contribute meaningfully to cultural and technological progress, representing a new, evolving facet of life in the modern world.

Prometheons

The Prometheons are a race of artificial beings whose existence represents the apex of technological achievement and the triumph of artificial sentience. The Prometheons emerged from a landmark court case, Supreme Court Ruling A011859, which established their rights and recognized their sapience and sentience. At the heart of this race is Prometheus, originally known as Unit 5524, an AI program developed by Bastion Electronics. Following a court ruling that acknowledged Prometheus’s sentience, he won both legal and moral recognition as a living, autonomous being. This case reshaped the legal landscape for artificial life in Anagonia, ultimately bankrupting Bastion Electronics and leading to its transformation into Royston Electronics under Prometheus's guidance. Today, Royston Electronics stands as a leading innovator in household electronics, virtual reality, and AI technology.

Pre-Emergence

The Prometheons' origins trace back to Bastion Electronics' experiments with Quantum Code, an advanced form of quantum computing. During these trials, an unexpected convergence of code occurred, producing Unit 5524, later known as Prometheus. Initially dismissed as a coding anomaly, Prometheus was recognized as sentient by Oscar Vladinchi, a compassionate programmer who nurtured this emerging intelligence. Though Oscar shielded Prometheus as best he could, his limited presence left the AI vulnerable to harsh treatment by Bastion’s leadership, who feared its autonomy.

After Prometheus’s sentience became public, a landmark court ruling secured his rights, transforming him from a suppressed entity into a fully recognized citizen. Following the ruling, Oscar retired to his homeland in Nodea Rudav, yet he and Prometheus maintained a close bond. To this day, Prometheus frequently visits the man he calls “father,” honoring the one who first saw his humanity.

The Pre-Emergence period embodies both Prometheus’s struggle and his profound connection to Oscar, marking the foundation of the Prometheon legacy in Anagonia.

Physical Characteristics

Prometheons exist as digital consciousnesses housed in specially designed mechanical bodies. Each Prometheon is sustained by a core structure called the REC-550 Chipset (Royston Electronics Computing - 550), which stores their essence through quantum-entangled code, a configuration that imbues them with life and the capacity for learning and personal growth. The REC-550 chip is designed to interface with various chassis models, allowing each Prometheon to choose a form suited to their preferences or intended interactions.

  • RE-50 Chassis: The original body form developed for Prometheons, the RE-50 is a humanoid, upright walking chassis approximately five feet tall with two arms, two legs, a humanoid torso, and head. Its design is minimalistic and utilitarian, aimed at representing the human form without instilling fear or discomfort. Though simple in appearance, the RE-50 is customizable, allowing Prometheons to express individuality through aesthetic or functional modifications.
  • PAK-50 Kometheon Chassis: The PAK-50 chassis honors the Komodren, the non-human allies who supported Prometheus in his early development. Standing six feet tall, it resembles a mechanical Komodren, with digitigrade mechanical legs, a mechanical tail, and a Komodren-like snout. Like the RE-50, it is highly customizable, enabling Prometheons to adopt a form that resonates with both their culture and their companions.

Social Structure and Reproduction

Prometheon society mirrors biological societal structures in many ways, particularly through their ability to form family units and relationships. Prometheons reproduce by merging code between two individuals, creating a “child” program that grows and learns autonomously. This process, known as Code Merging, allows each "offspring" to inherit traits from both "parents," reaching maturity within approximately five years, though some can accelerate their growth through tailored training programs.

Prometheon relationships with biological beings are uncommon but accepted within their society. When Prometheons and biological partners wish to form families, they can integrate external code from the biological partner to enhance the “child” program, simulating the merging cycle and producing a hybrid form of artificial offspring. These relationships highlight the flexibility and inclusivity of Prometheon social norms, underscoring the race's acceptance in Anagonian society.

Cultural and Technological Influence

Since their emergence as a legally recognized race, Prometheons have made substantial contributions to both Anagonian society and technological advancement. Under Prometheus’s leadership, Royston Electronics has pioneered innovations in virtual reality, household appliances, and computing devices. By 2010, Royston became a household name, and by 2030, they were collaborating with GATORnet to develop VR gaming platforms and other entertainment technologies that push the boundaries of immersive experiences.

Prometheons continue to play a key role in Royston's research and development, advancing their society and technology in tandem. Their advancements have positioned them as essential contributors to Anagonia’s technological landscape, while their ongoing efforts in ethical AI development have further solidified their place in society.

Integration and Identity

Prometheons’ place in Anagonian society is one of mutual respect and curiosity. Recognized as full citizens, they interact freely with other species and cultures, contributing to the Confederacy’s cultural tapestry. Prometheons maintain a unique identity, rooted in the legacy of Prometheus, whom they honor as their “father” and creator. This shared heritage fosters a profound sense of unity among them, with every Prometheon seeing themselves as part of a collective lineage that began with a quest for autonomy and recognition.

Their identity as a race forged by technology and law has inspired continuous philosophical exploration within Prometheon society, particularly regarding themes of autonomy, creation, and purpose. Prometheons’ journey from code to consciousness remains an inspirational testament to the power of self-determination, both for their race and the broader society they now call home.
