South Ildan is a transitional state that occupies the Southern Half of the Ildan Peninsula. It is currently administered by general John Hearst while the people wait for elections.
South Ildan was abandoned by an unknown colonizer in 1955. After a long period of strife a president was chosen. In 1991, President Maximillian Swafford was sworn in as president of The State of South Ildan. He served 7 terms until his death in 2009. President Henry Zhou was then elected. He was known for corruption and his failed attempts to industrialize the rural counties of the country. He was not popular, but he assured the people he was liked by legendary founder Swafford, and was elected for two terms until his death from a sudden stroke in his office. No individual was made president. Instead, Zhou's appointed successor and Former Secretary of the Military John Hearst succeeds him, establishing an ironfisted junta. Many unrest groups formed after economic problems in 2019. The Democratic Tide was an organization pressing for new, free elections. The Ildanian Holy legion was a right-wing group planning to destroy foreigners. After rioting and some armed fighting, Hearst agreed with the democratic tide to hold elections.
