History
Naming conventions
Any vessel of any class may be named in honor of a deceased prominent citizen or member of the Armed Forces. Class names are usually cities, provinces, or any other geographic feature
- Aircraft carriers, amphibious assault ships, amphibious command ships, battleships, cruisers, battlecruisers are all named for former monarchs of Costa Mejis or notable members of the Mejian Royal Family who are no longer living.
- Destroyer: Destroyers are named for heroic attributes. Example:
- Frigate: Frigates are named for predators and birds of prey. Example:
- Corvette: Corvettes are named for weather phenomena. Example:
- Patrol boat: Patrol vessels are named for attributes associated with grace or dexterity. Example:
- Submarine: Submarine names are almost always associated with death, shadows or the underworld. Example:
- Mine countermeasures vessel: These vessels are named for attributes often associated with luck. Example:
- Support Vessels such as seaplane tenders and replenishment oilers are generally named for gemstones or precious metals. Example:
- Hospital ship: These vessels are named for peaceful words or phrases. Example:
- Training ship: These vessels are named for words associated with teaching and the classroom: Example:
