The WIRS Pandemic is a pandemic involving the WIRS-CoV, a strain of the coronavirus. There are two waves that occurred, with the first lasting from 27 December 2024 to 4 April 2025, and the second from 21 February 2026 to 10 June 2026. The pandemic has totaled 752.14 million – 1.85 billion confirmed cases, with its death toll at an astounding 219.97 – 255.76 million according to rough estimates, making it the deadliest pandemic to ever occur in Eordis.
History
First Wave (December 2024-April 2025)
The first cases were confirmed on 30 December 2024 in Lorica, with patient zero, according to a released CDC report, stating that he was infected three days before.
Second Wave (February-June 2026)
This wave emerged on 21 February 2025, originating in Concordia. It was discovered that the virus had mutated to take on traits of the CONCORBO virus, a strain of Ebola. Designated WIRS/N26-CoV, this new strain of the virus can cause similar symptoms of WIRS, but can subsequently induce hemorrhagic fever upon a patient after 2 – 3 days after incubation. Afterwards, combined with pneumonia, shock ensues and the patient dies. With this characteristic, WIRS has undertaken a new variation that has induced more deaths than the first wave, including the original WIRS. Moreover, the new variation of the diseases has been designated WIRS Type II.
