The Razarian National Armed Forces (Razarian: Ⱀⰰⱃⱁⰴⱀⰵ ⰲⱁⰹⱄⰽⰰ Ⱃⰰⰸⰰⱃⱄⰽⰵ, Narodne vojska Razarske), abbreviated as the RNAF or the NVR, is the military of Razaria.

Ground force

The Razarian Ground Force (Razarian: Kopnena sila) is the land warfare branch of the NVR and has 157,000 troops in service. The focus of military development since the modern Razarian military's founding, it receives most emphasis in terms of resources and strategy. The majority of the ground force consists of rotated brigades raised on the nodal system with a small amount of standing forces.

The ground forces have several sub-branches including army aviation and air defense.

Air force

The Razarian Air Force has 30,000 troops in service. The air force was significantly empowered and strengthened as part of strategic reforms that began in the 1980s, with the aim of turning it into a force capable of its assigned role in military plans - maintaining air superiority as well as efficiently supporting ground operations. It has been gradually equipped with modern jet fighters and other aircraft via technological cooperation with its allies, as well as intensive domestic aerospace development.

Navy

The Razarian Navy has 19,000 troops in service, including 9,000 naval infantry. It is mainly intended to maintain littoral security against Aucuria, and is a green-water navy, with a modest amount of surface combatants.

Strategic weapons force

The Razarian Strategic Weapons Force has 4,000 troops in service. It is responsible for the development, management, maintenance and deployment of Razarian weapons of mass destruction. As of yet Razaria only has stocks of radiological, biological, and chemical weapons, with an intermittently progressing nuclear weapons programme.

Territorial defense

Each node is tasked with raising a local territorial defense unit, a militia with some law enforcement roles in peacetime, but primarily intended to serve as an instrument for people's war. Territorial defenses have about 430,000 members in total. TD units mainly make use of outphased, obsolete, or surplus equipment.

Commands

The RNAF is strategically divided into three main integrated commands all with ground, aerial and naval components, the Western Command, the Central Command and the Eastern Command. The Western and Eastern commands field the most active ground forces and air force units, while the Central Command fields more naval units and has more reservists, and is likely only to be involved when foreign invasion threatens central areas of Razaria.

Personnel

In 2018 there were 210,000 troops in active service in the Razarian military, 0.5% of the Razarian population, and about 650,000 registered reservists. In addition the reservist paramilitary territorial defenses had 430,000 active members, bringing total armed personnel to 640,000, 1.56% of the Razarian population, and total military and paramilitary personnel to 1,290,000. The Razarian military by personnel is the second-largest in West Borea after Luziycan Armed Forces.

The Razarian military is organized upon the node system, an administrative division of modern Razaria combining government, military and ecclesiastical polity. Each node is responsible for the organization of military personnel, who are conscripted from an assigned, qualified and trained part of the local population in a rotational system. Nodal administration is also responsible for provision of training and allocating citizens into the rotations if they are part of the system. The unit raised by a node is expected to be a fully tactically independent and self-supporting combat force, and are always brigades of 3,000 troops. In the rotation system, each unit is only on active duty for 4 years before being moved to reserve and replaced by the next nodal unit on the rotation. As such the number of true all-time units is small and restricted to much more specialized, elite or recognized units.

Raising more specialized units such as special forces and also personnel for the navy and air force are responsibilities of Commands due to the limited access to resources each node possesses. Training, qualification, assignment, organization and equipment of these units are thus directly and independently managed by Commands. Air force and naval personnel are also subject to a rotational system.

There are 68,000 all-time troops in the Razarian military which includes commissioned officers, special operations, honor guard, and 20,000 serving in elite units.

Razaria has also collaborated in some military technologies, one example being the creation of the Type 01 main battle tank, essentially an extensive upgrade to the Type 80 tank, which was conducted with Xiaodong; the Type 01 has since entered service in the Xiaodongese Defence Force.

Doctrine and capabilities

Since the end of the Gozar War, the NVR has recognized that it is outnumbered by Razaria's neighbour-rivals and have thus steered military development towards focus on high-quality, high-capability weapons and forces, as a means to ensure operational superiority. Regular forces have been developed to serve roles in the Ebb plan, an outline for preemptive war involving rapid subjugation of hostile neighbours by technologically and structurally superior Razarian forces. The NVR has thus surprisingly moved towards adopting Aininian strategies, aiming to achieve full spectrum dominance in its region to counteract opponents' numerical superiority.
