The Ministry of Homeland Affairs is the West Phoenician government interior
executive ministry created with the responsibility for national security, law enforcement, emergency management, border control, immigration, refugees, citizenship, multicultural affairs, cyber security, and disaster prevention.
History

Controversy
West Phoenician Citizenship Debacle
In October 2018, West Phoenician Minister of Immigration Harry Heniel was under fire from Opposition parties as well as members in his own Coalition.
Hon. Harry Heniel, a member of the Antebellum Party in West Phoenicia who form a coalition ro run the government came under fire with his introduction of a controversial plan to fast track citizenship for sport stars of other nations.
The plan dubbed "Paving the Road to Glory" allowed active sport stars and athletes to be given automatic citizenship in exchange for them representing West Phoenicia in the Winter and Summer Olympicss as well as other high profile sports like Baseball, Basketball, Tennis and Football. The goal was to bring in talent and excellence to boost West Phoenicia in sports where they struggled.
The nominated athletes would need to complete in the next Games or International event and pull in either a win or the top 5 for Olympic Sports or enable a team to reach at least the semi finals in other sporting events.
As well as automatic citizenship granted for the athlete it allows their family to be granted citizenship and pick of location of where they want to live with further financial assistance given for relocation costs as well as waiving the $5000 Citizenship application fees and others associated with it.
The Opposition slammed the new policy as unfair and discriminating towards people who have done the right thing and waited the five years to become citizens.
The Socialist Party leader Hon. Eddie Rox-Indi labelled the policy "pure elitism" one rule for the rich and successful and one rule for the rest of the population.
Leader of the Nationalist Party, Hon Thomas Dunedin denounced the policy. Instead the party leader called for an end to Immigration. "Such a policy slaps our own athletes in the face. "We have so many talented athletes we need to increase sport funding not fish in another nations pond." He stated during a session of Congress.
The Communist Party denounced the policy saying it was pure racism and pushed rather for open borders with no immigration checks.
While the Justice Party said it would support the policy as long as immigration laws changed for everyone to make the process easier and quicker for all who wanted to move to the best country in the world.
Feminist Party leader Hon.Gabriella Pascoe said she would support the policy if there was a high female athlete quota. And the Rainbow Party said they too would support it if it allowed for gay athletes and their families high priority especially from those who live in countries where homosexuality is a crime.
Members of Harry Heniels Right Wing Coalition were split on the issue. While some supported the measure, there were calls to only find athletes in sports where West Phoenicia was under performing.
Other senators suggested just because someone is an athlete it does not mean they will encompass West Phoenician values, our culture or religion. Allowing the wrong person in can have a negative affect on the nation.
Maximillan Dogg, The West Phoenician Minister of Sports said while the proposal was discussed over cocktails and lunch they never gave the policy the green light. The new policy caught them by surprise.
