The Cabinet of Gemma Insulam is the collective body if secretaries in the government of Gemma Insulam. Led by the Chancellor, the cabinet guides all major decisions made by government.

The current cabinet was formed by Hubert Maxwell, following an invitation by Grand Prince Louis III to form a government.

Secretaries

Secretaries, formerally known as Secretaries of the Crown, are selected from the House of Deputies and House of Peers by the Grand Prince on the advice of the Chancellor.

Typically, secretaries are heads of specific departments but at times a secretary may be assigned a portfolio that does not have department but focus on a intragovernmental intitiative. Secretaries may also be invited to cabinbet and made a "Secretary Without Portfolio". These secretaries typically support cabinet by advising and supporting the government.

Upon accension to cabinet, secretaries are appointed the the Privy Council of Gemma Insulam where they enjoy the style of The Right Honourable and post-nominal PC.

Meeting

The cabinet meets on weekly basis where the Chancellor and secretaries provide announcments, updates and ratification on government policy. The Chancellor maintains the power to call a special or emgergency cabinet meeting to address pressing issues or matter of immediate national importance.

The cabinet maintains sub-committees led by specific secretaries. Sub-committes are charged with address specific govenrment priorities.

Composition

While the cabinet may be composed of members from the House of Deputies or House of Peers, the majority of secretaries come from the elected House of Deputies.

When selecting secretaries, Chancellors have sought to ensure the cabinet maintain gender, ethnic, religious, and regional representation.
