This is a brainstorming space for Levilion's Second Great War.

Thinking about the GW2 page, it seems to me that the major fronts might be as follows:

In Auressia, there's the Northern Front, where the Palians fight the Coalition in Blayk. That's probably the biggest land front, with Montigné as a Stalingrad-like decisive battle. There also might be the North Idica front, trying to open up the Palian empire from the south. There's likely a naval front in the Galene and the Hemetrian.

In the Demontean, the fronts vary more over time. At first, there's a Qes Front centered on the Ta-Puia Archipelago. After Songha takes over there, there's a front in Blaykish Mesonesia, which is first lost to Songha and then retaken by Amandine and Senejor. There's a naval front in the Rum Gulf, where Audonia stands alone for about a year; that front is closed by the Albrennian naval buildup and the Amand entry into the war, which lead to the Battle of Saint-Baptiste. And finally, the Qes Front comes back again again, which is characterized by Amand/Audonian/Senejorese invasion of the Songhese empire and Albrennian naval operations to force open the Straits and control the Sea of Qes.

I'd also be open, as we get more players in Surucia, to something analogous to the CBI theater. But that probably needs to wait for relevant nations to appear.

I'm copying over the timeline here. Each of us can go through, and for each year fill in what our nations might have been up to in each front where they were active. Then we can try to turn all of those individual data points into one larger story. I'll fill in Albrennia's role for each year shortly.

Timeline

1937

Songha attacks the Ta-Puia Archipelago. Albrennian Fleet sails to repel the Songhese, and 12,000 Fleet Marines are landed to defend the islands. Other established powers in Isuan, especially Rythene and Blayk, might also be involved. The Fleet is defeated, in large part due to failure to coordinate with its allies or convince the Audonians to join the operation.

Palia uses distractions in the east (especially in terms of Blayk trying to fulfil its role as the "Guardian of the Demontean") to launch a full-scale invasion of the Confederacy and later Blayk itself.

1938

Songhese ground forces eventually defeat the Fleet Marines in Ta-Puia, but it takes them eleven months - even though the Marines have been cut off from resupply since the Fleet withdrew. Historically, this operates as a famous last stand, but it ends in an equivalent to the Bataan death march where most Albrennian POWs die of mistreatment.

Tyrnica and Rythene reconcile following a "Gallipoli-style campaign" (in terms of its bloodiness and loss of life), allowing them to work more effectively with each other. For a short amount of time, this new working relationship allows them to make some decisive victories against Palia.

1939

The Albrennian Fleet attempts to defend Blaykish Mesonesia (perhaps joined by a Blaykish Demontean fleet?). In any case, it goes very badly. The Fleet loses four out of its six aircraft carriers and 12,000 lives. Albrennia is reduced to an auxiliary role in the war while it rebuilds. Audonia begins its roughly 20-month period of standing alone against Songhese threats to the Rum Gulf.

1940

Albrennia launches an enormous national mobilization. Wellfleet Industries ceases work on all civilian shipping, and produces twelve aircraft carriers, thirty cruisers, and ninety destroyers. Parliament passes the country's only national draft. General Armaments, under direct contract with the Albrennian government and with Rythene and Tyrnica, organizes a huge !Lend-Lease production drive, supplying thousands of tanks, hundreds of aircraft, and millions of rounds of ammunition to the Coalition.

The Battle of Montigné (perhaps the single largest battle in history?) occurs, resulting in a costly Coalition victory. Though the war in Auressia is still seen as anybody's game, historians ultimately identify the Battle as the point of no return for the government of Lancero Palia.

1941

Amandine joins the Coalition and brings crucial intelligence about Songhese fleet movements. Audonia has gained important firsthand experience with Songhese naval tactics during its defense of the Rum Gulf. Albrennia has built the most powerful navy in the world. Songha sends an invasion armada to Saint-Baptiste. Acting on Amand intelligence and in accordance with an Audonian battle plan, the Fleet (supported by the Audonian Navy) defeats this armada, destroying Songhese control of the Eastern Demontean. Amand and Senejorese (and maybe Blaykish) troops land in Blaykish Mesonesia, and begin a long campaign to liberate it with support from Albrennian airpower and shore bombardment.

1942

Coalition (presumably Amand, Audonian, Senejorese, and perhaps Blaykish) troops land on the southern peninsula of the Qes Straits Zone and eventually seize control of all of it, including crucial shore batteries and other defenses of the Straits themselves. The Albrennian Fleet is therefore able to force its way through the Straits, against desperate Songhese opposition. In the largest naval battle in history, the Songhese Navy is de facto destroyed as an effective fighting force.

By 1941/1942, the Coalition forces on the northern front (Blayk, Rythene and Tyrnica) have pushed the Palians back to the border. While the Tyrnican and Blaykish navies continue to blockade Vervillia from the sea, it continues to provide aid to the Palians and the Coalition forces simply skip over it in order to eliminate Zarate.

1943

Songha is partly occupied by Coalition forces, while the Albrennian Fleet and allied navies establish control of the Sea of Qes. At the Treaty of Porte-Tardu, the Coalition agrees to withdraw from Songha provided Songha reopens the Sea of Qes and withdraws from its wartime conquests, reestablishing something close to the status quo ante bellum. Albrennia fiercely opposes the treaty, pressing for greater concessions, but eventually signs it. As soon as the conflict is over, Albrennia launches a cold war against Songha: aggressively patrolling the Sea of Qes with freedom-of-navigation operations; running Fleet Intelligence Corps operations to slow and destabilize Songha's recovery; and investing heavily in Songha's neighbors, in order to surround the Empire with states fearful of its expansion and sympathetic to Albrennian corporate interests.
