Manufactured under license as the modified SPG-22 "Regulus" in the Enlightened Empire, several additional modifications were made to make sure the weapon was compatible. The 2006 Fiscal Budget appropriated replacement money for older self propelled guns in service. It was determined cheaper to purchase and modify a Centurion rather than start an entirely new replacement program. The SPG-22 design is notably more expensive with various additions such as a hardkill missile defense system and a friend/foe identification computer.

Variants

  • SPG-22 Mark I - Basic production variant with 155mm Standard Mark V Artillery Gun.
  • SPG-22 Mark II - Added an engine management computer.
  • SPG-22 Mark III - Variant featuring a 203mm Mark IV Heavy Artillery Gun. The transmission was replaced with a modified hydrostatic model to permit the use of the 4,000 horsepower VSD-2 Gas Turbine. The longer chassis and additional weight required a more powerful engine to maintain reasonable mobility
  • SPG-22 Mark IV - Variant of the Mark II under development featuring strengthened frontal armor, an updated fire control computer, and a slightly modified track design for use in desert terrain.
