Lamar is a city in Wood County in Southeastern West Monroe. The population was 7,584 at the 2020 census. It is the largest city in Wood County, West Monroe.
The city is a tourist destination, with popular attractions including: Historic Railroad Cars, the Weise Fountain, Lamar Public Library, Excelsior House, and the bayous formed by Adams Bayou located in and around the city.
Geography
According to the Ibican Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 4.4 square miles (11 km2), of which, 4.3 square miles (11 km2) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.26 km2) of it (1.58%) is water.
Climate
The climate in this area is characterized by hot, humid summers and generally mild to cool winters. According to the Köppen Climate Classification system, Lamar has a humid subtropical climate, abbreviated "Cfa" on climate maps.
