Atlantican is an Indo-European language mostly spoken in Atlantica and Vajorr, where it is the sole official language and one of the four official languages respectively, and to a lesser extent in Heilag, parts of Western Korbathia, and Eastern Vjaarland, primarily in Strendhavn and Elsfold. The language is generally considered to be the most conservative of all of the Nordanian languages, in fact retaining mutual intelligibility with written Old Nordanian (but when spoken is not mutually intelligible with Old Nordanian), and is the only living member of the North Nordanian branch of the Nordanian language; Shibdanese Norse, a language formerly spoken by the Atlantican Vikings who settled Shibdan (which they called Sólaruppráseyja) is the only other members of North Nordanian, but since the late 1600s it has been a Dead language, but is still spoken by some Atlantican academics, thereby avoiding becoming an Extinct language.

Atlantican, traditionally written in Atlantican runes, is notable one of the only two languages, along with Sæxish where Runes are the sole script used; Vestmarkic also uses Runes, but these are used in conjunction with the Latin alphabet.
