The Green Party (Atlantican: Græntflokkurinn) is a large Green party in Atlantica. Founded on the tide of the Atlantican environmentalist movement in the 1950s and 1960s, it's currently a junior partner in the governing coalition, and one of the biggest political parties in Atlantica by seats.
Founded as a green and eco-socialist party, its political positions have become less socialistic and more social democartic throughout its decades of existence, advocating increased ecological protections, strong environmental regulations on capitalism, a continuation of the "Atlantican Model" and a carbon-neutral economy, all in interest of protecting the environment. This has caused strong controversy among some members of the Greens, who founded the social ecologist Friends of the Esquarium in 1970 as a result.
