The Volynian Navy, is the maritime arm of the Volynian Armed Forces and one of the five military service branches of Volyna. It is among the largest and most powerful naval forces in the world, ranking in the top ten in the world in combined fleet tonnage and in number of naval vessels. The Volynian Navy is one of X nations currently operating fixed-wing aircraft carriers, with its flagship Svyatoslov Shulha its sister ship Zoya Komar being two of only a very small handful of nuclear powered aircraft carriers in the world.
The Volynian Navy consists of five main components: the Naval Action Force, the Submarine Forces Volynian Naval Aviation, the Navy Riflemen (including Naval Commandos), and the Maritime Gendarmerie. As of 2021, the Volynian Navy employed 115,358 personnel (96,598 military and 18,760 civilian), more than XX ships, XX aircraft, and XX commandos units; as of 2014, its reserve element numbered roughly XXXX.
Founded in the 17th century, with precursors dating back to the Middle Ages, the Volynian Navy is one of the oldest navies in the world, even accounting for its disbanding during the Partitioning of Volyna in the 18th Century. It has taken part in key events in Volynian history, and played a critical role in establishing and securing Volynian foreign bases since the regaining of independence in 1947.
