The Battle of Elerio was an early engagement of the Prodavan War. Sir Arnold Rolf's Royal Kingsbridge Light Horse defended the fortified village of Elerio against General Nizaar Alam's Prodavan 14th Brigade from 0900 until 1500 on 29th March 1991. The Imperial force sustained heavy casualties to Prodavan artillery and in close-quarters fighting within the village. Elerio was overrun and taken after 6 hours of fighting, cutting off Imperial forces on Hill 451 from Oliv and completing the Prodavan encirclement of the hill. As part of the Prodavan Oliv Offensive, Elerio preceeded the Battle of Hill 451. An Imperial counterattack at 1700 on the 29th is known as the Second Battle of Elerio.
