The Talon Métro (French: Métro de Talon) is a rubber-tyred metro system in Talon, Ainin. It is the most extensive rubber-tyred rapid transit system in Esquarium and the second-most extensive overall, behind the Nevanlinna Metro. Opened on 9 May 1904, it has since expanded to 338 stations over 19 lines, with an annual ridership estimated to be around 2.2 billion. It is the largest urban rail network in Ainin.
The network is very extensive and covers large parts of Greater Talon and the surrounding regions, including parts of western Ponant province. Many of the most heavily-trafficked tunnels used by the rail network are in a quadruple track layout, allowing for both express service that bypass most non-interchange stops as well as local service that stops at all stations on the line. The Talon Metro is a pioneer in the concept of limited-stop service in Esquarium.
Lines
<imgur w="800" thumb="yes" comment="Offical Talon Métro network map (2015)">DYFaIG8.png</imgur> The Talon Métro consists of 19 lines, of which 15 are numbered, 1 is branch lines, one is an unnumbered loop line and 2 connect interchange stations to the Talonée region's two major airports, Talon International and Mohammed-Faswa-Talonée. Most tunnels in the Talon urban core are quadruple-tracked, allowing for slower local services that stop at every station and express services use the inner tracks to bypass less important stations. Two Métro lines that extend far into the suburbs (Lines 5 and 10) become express services when they enter the city, sharing a tunnel with local service on other lines (Lines 1 and 7, respectively).
18 of the Métro's lines are built to rapid transit standards. However, Line 11 is a light rail line that is built at-grade, running for most of its length in the central reservation of the Boulevard des Canonnades.
