The party was created by moderate members of the Stedorian opposition who, although originally believing in a constitutional monarchy, came to support the establishment of a liberal-democratic republic through peaceful means.
 
The party currently sits as the second largest party in the [[National Assembly of Popular Power (Stedoria)|National Assembly of Popular Power]], and as the largest opposition party in Stedoria. The party is highly critical of Gemotamism, the socialist policies of the [[National Party of the Stedorian Revolution]], and of the democratic backsliding occurring under the NPLS' rule.
