The Bir Ramna massacre took place in the city of Bir Ramna, approximatively 45 kilometers east of Dar Al Hamma in the night between June 3 and June 4 1998. The AIM attacked the district of Abu 'Oqba, in the southeastern part of the city. 622 persons died during the massacre, and some corpses and slaughtered heads were found in the streets the next morning. The Armed Islamic Movement revendicated the attack on June 6.
