The Congress of Ornivian Socialists is a Left-wing, Far-Left federative political party and the main Socialist party of Ornivia. The party is a Federation of Democratic Socialist and Revolutionary Socialist Parties across the region, as well as a few Trade Unions primarily located in the three Socialist Republic Member-States. Formed in 2015, it is the 4th largest party in Ornivia's Parliament.

Socialism can trace its history back to the middle of the 19th century, formed in opposition against both Liberalism and Nationalism, which original thinkers, such as Max Kalan, believed cooperated in oppressing the labourers of society through capitalism. This belief spread throughout Ornivia, and challenged the duopoly of political thought of Liberalism and Nationalism. By the late 19th century however, like the Liberals, Socialists would come under increased suppression as the various nationstates fully embraced Nationalism, Militarism and Authoritarianism.

The early 20th century saw a division in Socialism, between those who believed that Socialism could be achieved through Democratic means, termed Democratic Socialists, and those who believed Socialism could only be achieved through Revolution, termed Revolutionary Socialists. These two groups would still cooperate while under Nationalist suppression, however by the middle of the 20th century these two groups had become distant, and a Democratic Socialism had split between those that believed that full socialism had to be achieved through Democratic means, who kept the term Democratic Socialism. The other branch consisted of those that believed a more moderate approach would be preferable, even embracing some forms of Capitalism, who were termed Social Democrats.

The Great Ornivian War, and the subsequent Spring of Ornivia, had resulted in Nationalist power being shattered across Ornivia, and the re-emergence of Liberalism. Socialists had participated in the Spring of Ornivia, however this action had demonstrated the growing divisions within Socialism, and as such the 2nd Ornivian Socialist and Communist Council was called in 1962, in an attempt to repair this damage. The Council was a failure. Social Democracy, which had grown rapidly between 1950 and 1960, now represented the beliefs of half the Ornivian population of Socialists, and abandoned the Council after 6 days of dispute, permanently fracturing Socialism and eventually leading to Social Democracy separating entirely as the later divide over Ornivian integration and Social Democracy's embrace of Ornivian Capitalism finally shattered the last connection between the two groups.

Democratic Socialists, which now made up the majority of Socialists, along with Revolutionary Socialism, now only existed in small pockets around Ornivia, as well in large concentrations in three Ornivian Nation-States that would eventually become the three Socialist Republic Member-States of the Federation. After the Blar Emergency in 1968, Democratic Socialists and empowered Liberals grew an informal respect for each other, which has become a linchpin of modern Ornivian Politics. In 1986, the 3rd Ornivian Socialist and Communist Council was formed, this time as a permanent organisation for Democratic and Revolutionary Socialist parties, though the latter group was significantly smaller then the former by this point. The Council, among other things, famously joined the Ornivian Economic Consensus, on the condition that the Consensus would be abandoned if the majority of nation-states were under Socialist governance.

By the 21st century, Socialism had in some ways modernised, and some ways had not. There were still tensions within Socialism that flare up occasionally, but both sides agreed to present a united front for the ideals of Kalan. They were sceptical of unification, however after the Treaty of Federation was signed in 2015, the Socialists had embraced the situation, and reformed the Council into the Congress of Ornivian Socialists.
