A bill is proposed by Calvonian local legislator Dominykas Margraitis to change the name of his province to "Nantai" to protest a decision made by the Esquarian Parliament to refuse to seat any representatives from the region of Nantai (disputed by Namor and Luziyca). Shockingly, the bill passes and Calvonia briefly becomes Nantai Province, Aucuria. However, the federal government under Pantaleimonas Uspelevičius uses a minor subsection of an arcane law passed in the 1800s about "protecting Aucurian heritage" to take Calvonia/Nantai to court over the name change, and wins. Margraitis during this period makes several controversial remarks about the president, and establishes himself as a fierce opponent of the Labor-Social Democrat-Liberal-New Republic-Green coalition. As rightist dissatisfaction with the Uspelevičius government grows, Margraitis is able to seize leadership of the National Alliance from Endrijūs Gruduškas- though Gruduškas retains control of the party's Saeimas members.
 
In 2017, presidential elections roll around. Uspelevičius finds himself in a fracticious election, facing down Judė Alduris, Dominykas Margraitis, Lilija Macijauskaitė, and Kazimieras Ilgauskas. Uspelevičius retains the presidency, but in a shock Alduris falls in third behind Margraitis. This is followed by the 2018 Saeimas elections, where his coalition partners New Republic and the Aucurian Greens lose several seats and the Working People's Party and True Aucurians lose both their seats. Margraitis- elected to the Saeimas and wholly replacing Gruduškas- gains at the expense of left and right, drawing voters from the Christian Democrats and Law and Justice as well as centrists unsatisfied by Labor administration; the Aucurian Jahistics also gain seats, hitting double digit territory for the first time ever.
 
Ignoring the fact that its lead is shrinking, the Uspelevičius administration in 2019 now attempts to push the legalization of gay marriage in Aucuria and an end to discrimination against LGBT individuals. While many internationally laud the move, the move costs them in deeply conservative Aucuria and in 2020 Margraitis becomes Aucuria's speaker as the right continues to grow at the left's expense. In 2022, the presidential race- between Uspelevičius, Margraitis, Alduris, and (shockingly) Riudalis- is tight, and Margraitis defeats Uspelevičius, becoming president of Aucuria.
