Synopsis
The series dramatises the lead up to and aftermath of the 1957 Humayan Affair, focusing both on the political figures involved and fictional members of the public.
Peravên Far Party leader Bachtya Humayan (Rahmi Dilan) unexpectedly becomes the Premier of Peravên Far Province when its governing coalition collapses, and begins planning an independence referendum to revive the recently disestablished state of Farstan. Anti-independence politician Makwana Mansur (Hanna Mirogan) repeatedly attempts to frustrate Humayan's programme, secretly enlisting the help of his wife Hapsa Bayandir (Leyla Maravand) by convincing her that the an unauthorised independence referendum would result in Humayan's arrest and incarceration.
At the same time, tensions increase in the city of Marsal between the pro-independence Basaquese community and anti-independence Santian community, as the latter fears their marginalisation under an independent Farstan. Friends Osman Moloud (Emerike Dabagh), Choman Sahin (Narmin Marouf) and Elia Nazzaro (Carla Rigamonto) see their relationship increasingly strained when the former becomes involved in militant pro-independence activism.
During the unfolding crisis, the first Chancellor of Liberto-Ancapistan Alexandre Delon (Jangir Laurent) considers how to deal with the situation, with the wrong choice potentially leading to the loss of his political authority and the breakup of his new country. He must decide between a conciliatory strategy to weaken the pro-independence camp and police intervention to prevent the referendum from occurring.
