The earliest evidence of settlers in Atlantis shows that the first settlements were established around 2000 BCE, but expeditions to the islands dates back to 1500 BCE. Although little evidence of those expeditions remains, a letter to the emperor of Werthy from 1600 BCE proves their existence. The first settlers were mostly of Werthian descent, but they became a bit more varied overtime. As the settlements grew bigger, Werthy claimed them as their territory. Popular legend states that around 100 BCE, Ulthrel was exiled from mainland Werthy and he fled to Atlantis, where he would try to convince the inhabitants to claim independence. He succeeded right as Werthy had just lost their Emperor and so the islands of Atlantis gained their independence. The validity to these claims are questionable as no evidence of Ulthrel has been found in neither Werthian or Atlantisian record. Most historians agree that while the independence of Atlantis happened right as the Emperor of Werthy died, Ulthrel was most likely made up.
The earliest evidence of settlers in Atlantis shows that the first settlements were established around 1000 BCE and expeditions taking place even earlier. The first settlers most likely arrived from the Werthian civilization on the mainland, although this is disputed as evidence of other cultures is also present in excavations. Atlantis remained a tribal society throughout most of the 1st millennium BC.

Surprisingly, Sitnaltis and Atlantis where good allies and their relationship remained when Atlantis established trade routes with the mainland and became more powerful than Sitnaltis, which didn't have any good natural resources to sell, around one thousand years ago. Sometime during the 14th-century, Atlantis experienced vulcanic activities and all of the four islands sank. Most of the population managed to escape to Sitnaltis where they were welcomed with opened arms. The Atlantisian royal family got permission to live together with the Sitnaltisian royal family and to continue to rule over the Atlantisian people. This created a complicated legal system as the atlantisian population began to mix with the Sitnaltisian one, thus the monarchs decided to segregate them. Special atlantisian-only cities were built and every atlantisian where forced to live there. Travel outside of the city was only allowed in certain circumstances, like for example the farmers who supplied the cities with food.
Sometime during the 14th-century, Atlantis experienced volcanic activities and all of the seven islands sank. Most of the population managed to escape to _________.

The volcanic activities was first documented again in 1676 by the crew of a fishing boat and after less than a decade the four islands of Atlantis were once again above water. During that time, the Atlantisian king Nomar XI made plans to move all of his people back there again, but didn't realize that most of the infrastructure and all of the wildlife and plant where gone. So he put aside those plans and began assembling a restoration crew to bring back the plants and some essential buildings on all of the islands. Nomar XI died in 1701, but the project was quickly taken up again by his son Orian I. When Orian I died in 1740, the project was almost complete, but his sucessor Nomar XII wasn't happy with the plans and updated them which added a few years to the project. The project was declared as done in 1767. When the Sitnaltisian king Hugo V passed away later that same year with no heir th the throne, Nomar XII was quick to appoint his uncle as the new Sitnaltisian king. When the uncle died he decided to give Sitnaltis to Omar XII who merged Sitnaltis and Atlantis into the Kingdom of New Atlantis.

History

First settlements

The earliest evidence of settlers in Atlantis shows that the first settlements were established around 1000 BCE and expeditions taking place even earlier. The first settlers most likely arrived from the Werthian civilization on the mainland, although this is disputed as evidence of other cultures is also present in excavations. Atlantis remained a tribal society throughout most of the 1st millennium BC.

Rest of the history
