Penhasiza officially the Republic of Penhasiza is a landlocked country in Southeast Africa, bather by the Zambezi and Limpopo rivers. It is the home of various hundreds of different races and cultures, being the Shona and Ndebele the largest.

History

What is now Penhasiza is believed to be inhabited since approximately 650 million years ago according to the rock paintings that were found in a cave in Chirevingo. The Ndebele and Shona are hunter-gatherer tribes that established in the zone 110 million years ago and started a process of inhabitation of the land. It it believed that the land was less dry, so that agriculture was propitious for the daily lives of those tribes.

Colonization

In 1496, a Portuguese colony was established in the land of Penhasiza and the rights and daily lives of the African tribes severely cut off. A caste system was imposed and the mixing of the European and African culture was forbidden. Many of the tribe leaders were put in slavery by senior colonizers and other many were executed and their properties seized or robbed. In February 1510, the vice-royalty of River Limpopo was established and the territory was divided in provinces for a better administration. Port Bragança was built and erected as the capital of the vice-royalty and seat of the administration. The portuguese started a campaign of education and assimilation destined to the African population. They were forced to speak Portuguese and practice Christianity or face execution. The Pope, Julius II, warned the Portuguese colonizers about the treatment of the native people, justifying that the less developed people must be treated with justice and equally and that the religion must be taught constantly and with patience.
