The Battle of Karlania was the opening engagement of the Okkamidur War fought in February 1866 between Mufeed al-Asmar's Okkamiduri invasion force and the garrison of Karlania, commanded by Colonel Hiram Barnett. In spite of being outnumbered 8:1, Barnett's defence held over three days and successfully stalled the Okkamiduri invasion long enough to evacuate the civilian population of Karlania. The victory also brought time for the defenders of Fort Fairweather to prepare themselves, though Fort Fairweather still fell three days later.
