MalTec is a Malgravean technology, distribution and security company, currently owned by the Malgravean government.

History

MalTec was established by the coalition government of Prime Minister Jozef Wajda in 1936 in order to maintain pre-exodus technological advancements and bring computers into government and the wider economy to assist with ongoing national research and reconstruction efforts.

At first, the company only produced devices for the government and large (mostly state-owned) corporations however the invention of smaller personal computers in the 50's led to smaller companies and individuals becoming more crucial to the companies success, with the MalTec electronics store becoming a key spot in high streets and shopping centres across the country.

Since coming out of isolation the company has aggressively expanded into the international market, and its technology has been used extensively during diplomatic visits to promote the nation's technological advancement. Although MalTec occasionally expands into other nations by purchasing a local company unlike Malgravean state-owned corporations MalTec retains its brand image and name across the world and takes great pride on its reputation for innovation, reliability and good customer relations.

In recent years the foreign expansion of MalTec has resulted in a majority of the companies profits coming from overseas ventures in the Dornalian Republic and Kouralia, with these funds being invested in existing research facilities on the Malgravean mainland and Electronictopia a wide-ranging research facility and city built in the Research Colony to facilitate a new generation of research projects and foreign experts.

Expansion

Since 2000 MalTec have worked closely with MalMart and MalInv to expand internationally, although, unlike MalMart which has looked to expand into foreign markets by purchasing a pre-existing company it has expanded under its own MalTec branding. MalTec has a sizeable presence in Kouralia, Breheim, the Dornalian Republic, D'hɑlbrisir, Celritannia and other countries both within and outside Mystria.

Controversy

MalTec has been accused by anti-privacy campaigners of working with the Special Investigative Service but a parliamentary inquiry launched after the 2009 Malgravean Emergency General Election highlighted no link between the company and the intelligence agency.

MalTec has also been accused of using overly aggressive tactics when expanding abroad and is often seen working together with other state-owned corporations like MalMart in order to increase its global market share.
