The Aurean Tunnels are a set of undersea tunnels traversing the Western Aurean Strait between Montecara and Paretia. They consist of a twin-bore rail tunnel and a pair of road tunnels. Planned and built between 1960 and 1987, they were one of the most expensive engineering projects in world history.
The tunnels run under the island of Madona, which also hosts much of their ventilation, maintenance, and firefighting infrastructure.
