Russtania, presently known as the United People's of Russtania, is a nation situated on a large island in the Meager Ocean, sat between the two main land-masses on Sparkalia. The capital city of Telgavon is one of four original cities that were founded during the time of the Refuge Era. It houses much of the nations main production facilities, but also the country's primary place of government, known as 'The Court'. The Russtanian landscape is mainly a mixture of grasslands & forests, with a lone mountain sat mostly central of the island, and a large valley connects the east to the rest of the island.
History
Era of Refuge:
During the troubles of the Era of Ruin, people took to the seas in search of a safe haven hoping to find shelter from the impending doom. However during those travels, a wave of energy would wash across the world, it being the work by the Great Mage during the Great Restart. The refugees at the time presuming it being the effects of the end times caused by the world ending weapons that the civilisations at the time had at their disposal.
It renewed their intention of finding a new home, starting the Era of Refuge. And eventually they found it. A landmass apparently undisturbed by the the other realms, sizable enough to fit all of the refugees who had amassed during the journey.
Four settlements would be created across the island, Reveston being the first. Then Telgavon and Dyrport were created sometime later. Lastly Borigod was created during the end of the first year.
The Four Realms:
After a century of settling down on the new land, the settlement of Reveston would form itself into a kingdom, with King Argus their first.
Three years later, Telgavon and Borigod would start their own, with Dyrport following last creating a queendom instead eight years later.
The realms began to prosper under their new rulers almost from the very beginning, but over time, their leaders would grow comfortable with their new power, and of course it corrupted.
Wars inevitably broke out between the four realms, as time and again they would be at eachothers throats for even the smallest of reasons.
In the latter years, Telgavon and Dyrport would become allies as they would find common ground and understanding between one another. Borigod became increasingly unstable, up until its royal lineage would be cut down by its own people. The realm becoming nothing more than a dangerous route full of barbarians and brigands. Reveston would remain alone, lead by ever increasingly paranoid rulers.
Russtania Begins:
By the time King Grecher V took the throne of Reveston, King Verger II of Telgavon had readied his plans for the uniting of the island, with Queen Izibeth of Dyrport supporting him.
King Verger II would begin with Borigod and the eastern region overall. Leading an army of a few thousand strong, consisting mainly of Telgavorians, but also a couple regiments of Dyrportans too. He found little issue to begin with, as some of the independant villages and clans welcomed him, as they themselves grew sick of the constant threat of the barbarian hordes from deeper east.
And indeed, deeper eastward King Verger II went, the more his army would find itself harrassed by groups of barbarians hoping to hinder his progress.
And by the time his army reached the outskirts of the dilapidated city of Borigod, a barbarian army lead by a man named Falkis Kharian, later believed to be a decendant of the lost Borigodish royal lineage.
Although outnumbered and facing down a horde of barbarians whilst also being in unfamiliar lands, King Verger II would find a great victory. With volunteers from the free villages aiding him, he would prepare a hasty battle line from his position, with the volunteers protecting the flanks.
Falkis Kharian would lead his troops from the front expecting a glorious battle against the 'pompous outsiders', however he would be greatly mistaken.
King Verger's army positioned itself as a jagged line, similar to that of a saw blade. As the two armies clashed, the allied army would march forward to the city of Borigods direction as it grounded up the poorly managed barbarian horde. Allied soldiers did fall, but many more eastern barbarians fell first. Falkis Kharian was in turn killed fairly early on in the engagment, impaled by several spears at once as he charged headlong into the carefully chosen formation.
An hour later and the remnants of the horde would turn into a rout. Some being cut down as they fled by archer fire.
