The AMW Wassilian Rally Series, or the Wassilian ralio serijos, is Wassilia's primary domestic motor rally competition. It's a championship that has been in existence since 1958 and held every year since. The series competes under the Automobiles and Manufacturers of Wassilia (AMW) sanctioning body which regulates all domestic motorsports in Wassilia. Events throughout the annual series take place on all four of the traditional rallying surface elements, those being snow, ice, gravel and tarmac.

History

The Cars

The WRS cars that are allowed to compete must align with the Group C and Group D formats. Group C rally cars are the premier class of "showroom' touring cars which must have produced a minimum of 2500 of the entered model the prior year to be eligible. These are cars that must be based on the production version that can be found on passenger roads. Currently all Group C cars are 2.0L turbocharged, four-wheel drive vehicles. Group D cars are of the same regulations however are only 1.6L and can be turbo or normally aspirated. There are also stricter guidelines to modifications.

Rally Structure

Each rally on the schedule is a three day event composed of stages on closed roads which range in length from 10 to 30 miles. Competitors compete on each stage in timed intervals where the lowest time across all stages is declared the winner of the rally. Rallies have in general between 15 and 20 stages across the three days. Some stages are used in part multiple times and some even done in reverse.

Some rallies include a single special stage which takes place on a closed loop with separate lanes in which two cars compete at the same time. This stage time is included in the overall time so the head to head race is not the deciding competition. Special stages are often setup in an arena fashion to give fans a chance to see the competitors compete at the same time.
