Adelaide Ivers, known mononymously in her musical career as Adelaide is an Aisling signer/songwriter, DJ and actress who is most famous for her appearances in several classic sci-fi television shows and movies, as well as here production of electronic dance music that is commonly featured at nightclubs and music festivals as well as at both chimerical and underground raves
Early life
Adelaide Ivers was born January 21, 1972 in Perros, located just outside of Rucesion. Her mother died during childbirth and her father was addicted to both drugs and alcohol. At the age of 7, she was removed from her father's custody by Aisling Children's Welfare Services agents and placed in a foster home in downtown Rucesion. er foster parents, an elderly couple, reportedly had difficulty keeping the young child under control. In a 2013 interview with StarLine, Adelaide stated that it was "amazing I turned out as well as I have. I have my foster parents hell, and, I feel bad for that. They were kind to me. If there's one thing I regret, its not being kinder to them as a child." Adelaide did make amends to her foster parents before they passed away in 2009.
Adelaide states she spent most of her late youth roaming the streets of Rucesion, "going to parties, getting high and being stupid." She claims she was under the influence of narcotics, specifically lysergic acid diethylamide, when she arrived at an audition being held by Iron Gate Productions in Rucesion. She learned that the audition was to pay 50 leones to all auditions, but that there was a predetermined list of participants. Lying to the receptionist about her identity, Adelaide was able to audition for what turned out to be a small part in Ascendant, long running science fiction television drama. The director and producer were highly compelled by her performance, which Adelaide later stated she thought was enhanced by the effects of the LSD in her system. However, the actual participant arrived for their audition several minutes later, exposing Adelaide's fraud. After a heated debate, Director Eugenio Del Villar decided that her deception wasn't important enough to actually disqualify her. According to Del Villar, Adelaide deception just underlined her creative nature. The actual participant was paid and told to leave, whereas Del Villar refused to pay Adelaide, but did offer her the part.
Career
Adelaide's first acting role came in 1991 when she auditioned under a false name for a role in Ascendant. Her performance impressed Director Eugenio Del Villar enough that he overlooked her deception and offered her a role. The rest of the cast and producers were also very pleased with her performance, enough that the producers demanded that scripts be rewritten to turn her character, a slightly spastic telepath named Bébhinn, into a reoccurring character. She appeared on Ascendant from 1991 until its cancellation in 1999.
In 2001, Adelaide opened a small recording studio and publisher under the name Adelaide SA, intending to use it to launch her musical career. Her first album, released in 2002, was entitled The Darkening was only moderately successful. Critics described it as an "dark fantasy electronica" making heavy user of electronic-based styles and instruments including synthesizers, sequencers and Digital audio applications. Only one song from the album Ravens Breath was popular, remaining within the top ten tracks on the Luas Hot 100 Singles chart for over ten weeks. Following the mediocre success of The Darkening Adelaide allowed Adelaide SA to go out of business.
