An Archon (Chinese: 统治者; pinyin: Tǒngzhìzhě lit. ruler), is an entity created by the Demiurge as an attempt to create an army to emulate God's angels. Unlike angels, however, an Archon is still bound by space and time and has emotions, as well as an unlimited level of free will, allowing them to disobey her.
Design
In their human forms, Archons are indistinguishable from human women. They can also take the form of objects, with Chesed, Gevurah, and Keter becoming a hammer, a gun, and a crown respectively.
History
Birth
Each Archon was created to preside over a certain aspect. Chesed was to pour the Demiurge's love into the creation of new Universes and was thus the Archon of creation. Gevurah was to be the Demiurge's enforcer. She was created to punish those who go against the Demiurge's will and was the Archon of destruction. Keter was created to act on her behalf when she was unavailable, and was appointed as the Archon of dominion. Together, the three carried out their duties as their mother retreated to consider her next course of action.
Betrayal
Keter's loyalty to the Demiurge began to waver as she watched all the suffering caused by the false god. She began to question her place in the multiverse. One night, she was visited by an angel in the form of an owl-like being when she reflected on it. The angel showed her the circumstances of her creation and the history of the Demiurge, confirming her doubts. With her newfound understanding, she left for the Primordial Sea to share it with her "sister" Chesed.
Chesed listened to Keter, but at the end of their conversation, opted to continue serving the Demiurge. While she was distraught enough to shed tears that her beloved creations were in pain, she was sceptical of the angel and its message, and maintained that even if it was true, the ghosts of Earth are responsible for their own problems as she only created universes and did not involve herself in the lives of their residents. She added that even if she did rebel against the Demiurge, she did not think the two of them could win against such a powerful entity, let alone change how things are if they won. Disappointed in Chesed's response, Keter left to find Gevurah.
Meeting at the edge of the Multiverse, Gevurah branded Keter a traitor, as anything other than complete submission to the Demiruge for an Archon was dangerous to the order the false god has imposed on the multiverse in her eyes. The two battled and Keter was about to be killed when Chesed intervened. She herself had received a message from the same angel that came to Keter, who reassured her that she was on the right track. Together, the two sisters defeated Gevurah and extended their arms to her. Thinking her failure would earn her their mother's wrath, Gevurah reluctantly accepted the gesture and began to formulate a plan with her sisters.
The three confronted the Demiurge in her throne room, armed and ready to fight their creator.
Gears of the Multiverse
With their former creator defeated and sealed in the wall between multiverses known as the Cosmic Ring, the Archons pondered on their next move. They ultimately decided to adapt their role to the current situation. Gevurah destroys dying universes and makes sure the remains are given to Chesed for her to recycle into new universes. What couldn't be made into a new universe is given to Chesed's new creation, Abraxas the Cosmic Rooster, for him to eat so the negative energies do not leak and become Shadow Universes. Keter takes the Demiurge's throne, observing the Multiverse and only intervening if she deems it under a serious enough threat.

Divine Code
Realms of the Multiverse
All Archons are fought as bosses in Falling Heavens. Upon completion of the campaign, they are unlocked in Multiverse Mode.
Species traits
Creation and conception
The Archons and the Demiurge were initially planned to be cosmic entities, concepted after RMD watched the MV and several performances of (G)Idle's song Oh My God. Reading on Gnosticism gave him the inspiration to finalize them as their current version. Their creation was also fueled by his desire to run a "rage against the heavens" plot without having villain protagonists rebelling against God. The Demiurge gave the opportunity for such a plot with heroic protagonists, while keeping the final boss of the campaign an unknowable, powerful, and and truly divine entity who happened to be evil despite her nature.

Trivia
- Each Archon has her own preferences in food, despite not needing to eat.
- Chesed dislikes meat, but has no problem consuming other animal products such as milk and eggs. She likes her food with a mix of various herbs and spices.
- Gevurah, on the other hand, likes meat, especially beef steak.
- Keter has a sweet tooth and loves all sorts of human desserts, but is partial to mithai and lokma. She prefers plain glazed doughnuts over other types because of their similarity to lokma.
- All Archons are played by members of (G)Idle. This was intentional thanks to their inspiration.
- The Archons and their roles have parallels with the Trimurti, the highest gods in Hinduism, with Chesed, Keter and Gevurah's roles as the Archon of creation, dominion and destruction overlapping with the roles of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva respectively. This was unintentional, and only realized by RMD late in the stage of the characters' development.
