The AMX-10 are a series of Sieuxerrian designed armored fighting vehicles. The family consists of various IFVs, APCs, recovery vehicles and other armored utility vehicles. Most vehicles are able to ford rivers at seven kilometers an hour.
Description
The AMX-10 is constructed of all-welded aluminium armor. The driver is located in the front to the left of the vehicle, with the engine to the right and troop compartment in the rear. The engine compartment is fitted with an automatic extinguishing system.
Variants
- AMX-10 P
- Infantry fighting vehicle designed with the Toucan II turret and fitted with a 20mm autocannon and a MILAN launcher system. Carries a crew of 3 and 8 dismounts.
- AMX-10 VCR
- Armored combat reconnaissance vehicle. Similar to the AMX-10P, seats crew of 3 and 4 dismounts. Has additional ammunition, provisions and radio equipment storage.
- AMX-10 PI
- AMX-10 TP
- Armored personnel carrier. Has an armored turret with a single AA-33 machine gun. Can be also fitted with a MILAN or MMP ATGM launcher.
- AMX-10 VFA
- Artillery fire control system, using older ATILA system.
- AMX-10 VLA
- Artillery liaison vehicle.
- AMX-10 ATLAS
- Using new fire control system, replaced VFA vehicles.
- AMX-10 PMM-81
- Fitted with an 81mm mortar turret. Has a machine gun for self-defense. Offered by Nexter but never adopted by the Sieuxerrian Armed Forces.
- AMX-10 PMM-120
- Officially designated the AMX-10 M, this is equipped with a 120mm breech loading mortar turret based on the PMM-81. It carries 55 rounds and has a machine gun for self defense.
- AMX-10 SAN
- Combat ambulance. Has a crew of three with one driver and two attendants. Space for three liters or one litter and four standing.
- AMX-10 ECH
- Recovery and repair vehicle. Has a 20mm Toucan I turret and a crew of five consisting of driver, chief mechanics, three mechanics. Has a 6,000 kg capacity crane.
- AMX-10 HOT
- ATGM launcher vehicle. Uses the a turret with 4-launchers for the HOT missile. Carries 16 reloads inside the vehicle. Has a crew of five, consisting of driver, commander, gunner, and two loading personnel.
- AMX-10 SMUG
- Improved AMX-10 HOT modified to use 4 SMUG launchers with 16 reloads.
- AMX-10 T-SMUG
- Vehicle with a modified Toucan II turret and two SMUG launchers with 4 additional missiles stored.
- AMX-10 PC
- Command and control vehicle. Has additional communications equipment. Has a crew of five. Driver, two commissioned officers, an NCO, and two radio operators.
- AMX-10 RATAC
- Counter-battery radar vehicle with the DR-PC 1a RATAC doppler radar. Since 2001, vehicles have been fitted with new radar systems.
- AMX-10 RAV
- Fast ammunition resupply vehicle for the GCT 45 series of self-propelled howitzers.
- AMX-10 SAO
- Artillery observation vehicle. Fitted with a laser-range finder and machine gun. Crew of driver, two fire support specialists and two radio operators.
- AMX-10 SAT
- Topographic survey vehicle for artillery positioning.
- AMX-10 VOA
- Artillery command and observation vehicle. Crew consists of driver, radio operator, commander and observer.
- AMX-10 VAF
- Fire support coordination and observation vehicle. Fitted with a 20mm turret, communications and range finding equipment for the coordination of both field artillery and air-launched guided weaponry.
- AMX-10 CNDA
- Air Defense battery command post.
