Bactieuan Quenminese (Quenminese: Tiếng Quến thuộc về Bắc Tiêu) is a variety of the Quenminese language that is spoken within Bactieu and the Adelaidines. This division possesses five dialects that would mostly correspond to the country's five prefectures: Bến Ngãi, Mỹ Bình, Hoi Tre, Palorauke and Northern-Western Adelaidine.
Bactieuan Quenminese is mutually intelligble with the Quenminese spoken in the mainland, however it does present its differences. By obtaining loanwords from the Bactieuan, Paiwan, and Rukai as per Quenminese colonization since the 16th century, Bactieuan Quenminese is considered to be a unique variation by most Quenminese speakers.
Dialects
There are currently four dialects of Bactieuan Quenminese:
- Bến Ngãi dialect: spoken in the capital city of Bến Ngãi and its adjacent areas.
- Mỹ Bình dialect: spoken throughout the Mỹ Bình Prefecture. Possesses more loanwords from the Rukai language.
- Hoi Tre dialect: spoken in the Hoi Tre Prefecture.
- Palorauke dialect: Also called the Pá Rự dialect. Contains stronger influence from the Bactieuan language.
- Northern-Western Adelaidine dialect: spoken in the northern and western islands in the Adelaidine archipelago.
Vocabulary
Prior to Quenminese colonization of Bactieu during the Thiện Dynasty in the early 16th century, Bactieuan Quenminese has made contact with the languages of native Bactieuans, Paiwan and Rukai peoples.
