Rintalinna is a city located in the province of Suojamaa in central Valkea. It has a population of 444,205 within the municipality and 502,386 in the urban area, making it the fifth largest city in Valkea and the fourth largest urban area in the country. Rintalinna is located on the Bay of Valkea and serves as the seat of Suojamaa.
The history of Rintalinna began with the construction of a fort in the area of < name > in the 11th century. A settlement grew around the fort which grew into a trading town throughout the Medieval era. It was granted charter to become a city in 1589 and became an important center of trade in the Bay of Valkea. The Industrial Revolution accelerated Rintalinna's urbanization, turning the city into one of the country's most important manufacturing hubs.
