The World War, colloquially known as the War in Avanere (Novarius 2 1927 – Junus 22 1933), was a major worldwide conflict that occurred primarily in the continents of Avanere, Selese, and Eurrene, and fighting occurred in almost all the continents except Vimicia. A large number of countries participated in this war, with the war between the two blocs of the Eastern bloc, officially the Lagnue or the League, and the Western bloc, headed by the Rszveteruneon (National Union), or the Union. The most significant instance of total war at the time, it is the deadliest war in human history as of 2024, incurring over 40 million deaths.
The World War is considered by some to be an extension of the Ovessian Civil War, with the breaking point of over two decades of tensions being the Lijavan intervention in the Ovessian Civil War in Novarius of 1927. Beforehand, the Lijavan Revolution and the rise of Cepnism, the Kanage Crisis, the Ivloreos Crisis, and the Avanere Sil Wars affected the already polarized diplomatic environment in Avanere and worldwide.
