Özkan was raised a Muslim, and claimed to follow the Shafi'i school of tought. Both his paternal ancestor and maternal family immigrated to the United States in the 1960s.

Özkan attended the islamic school Twin Stars Academy in Dallas, Texas. In high school, he was part of the Cinema and Media Society, which also led him to graduate from University of Texas at Austin in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He earned a Masters of Arts degree in Global Media Industries from the King's College London in 2025.
