The Blue Star, sometimes called the Gestachian Star (★) is a national symbol of Gestachia. It is a five-pointed and filled star that is almost always navy blue. It is associated with the Gestachian people and socialism in Gestachia. Offically the blue star symbolizes guidance, protection, socialism in Gestachia, and not any particular star.
History
It is not well known well known where the blue star came from, archaeological finds has shown that the symbol has existed since at least the 10th century.
Modern usage
The symbol was widely used in the Republic of Gestachia until 1919 when the government banned the symbol, as part of a larger cultural reform program aimed at removing elements of Gestachian culture that was seen as encouraging revolutionary spirit.
When the Gestachian Revolution broke out in 1926 Gestachian socialists decided to use the blue star as part of their insignia due its symbolism of guidance and protection and its popularity. The blue star can be widely seen today and is typically used in place of the Red Star. Unlike most renditions of the blue star, Socialist Gestachia's naval flags has the star as a cyan color, this is for high visablity.
